Disgust at the Trop Atlantic City (1 Viewer)

I always stay at Borgata when it’s comped but they definitely get the biggest whales which doesn’t leave many comped rooms available for the average player. I’ve had better luck w comps at Hard Rock and Ocean the last few years. Both good food options and even things to keep the kids somewhat entertained. No poker which is the big downside.

My wife and I ate at Il Mulino at the Hard Rock before covid hit. The food was amazing! The guitars from all those top musicians, and the motorcycle on display near them, were amazing to see.
I haven’t stayed there, but it seemed like a nice place.

There seems to be a lot less smoke at the Ocean Resort vs. Borgata. I personally think the restaurants are much better as well! And the sports book is brand new as of last year.

It’s still great at Il Mulino. Really good food and excellent waiter/waitress service.

Borgata pissed me off when they closed Fornaletto. That's was my wife and I's favorite place there. Angeline is very overpriced and very run of the mill and nothing special.

Yeah, that area is pretty nice. I met my cousin there for a few drinks, and it wasn’t busy at the time. Sitting in a comfortable chair, sipping whiskey, watching the ball game… nice and relaxing.
I think, since the building is newer, their ventilation system is better.

I agree. There are too many average eateries in the casinos, which is not that bad. I’m not a food snob - I‘m fine eating a burger, steak, salad, whatever as long as it doesn’t taste like their casino floor.
But if I want to eat something that will wow my palate, there needs to be higher-tier restaurants in quality if the prices are higher.

A lot of the places are just very stuffy feeling to me. The ambience is nice in most but you're paying $100/person for a three course meal and one drink. You're paying $60 for a $10 quality steak.

GTFO with their $30+ pasta too. I can make something better for $7 and feed my whole family.

It’s bad that inflation is killing us, and it’s bad that casinos‘ restaurants and shops jack up their prices, but at least give people an equal value of goods for those high prices. Just like when I pay upwards of $300 for a non-smoking room, I don’t want to walk into a pigsty where the room stinks, the couch is stained, and there’s mold in the shower.

Sorry about your bad experience. Trop was my first poker job and I felt it was the best casino in the city. I stayed there when I visited AC right around the time the Covid restrictions were starting to be lifted and I was terribly disappointed. The casino is attracting the wrong crowd and I smelt weed all over the casino. In the elevator and hallways and the casino floor. Luckily I did not smell it in my room. Stay at borgata next time.

Not sure. It was like a burning plastic smell.
Could have been meth. That is one of the smells when it is smoked. Also it can produce a sweet smell. A heavy chemical smell. Smell like window cleaner. And a few others.

Side note, no I do not smoke meth. I have had run-ins with smokers

Update on this debacle…
Waited over a week with no reply. Wife asked credit card company to dispute the charge and they said “Take it up with the casino” because the room wasn’t damaged, on fire, infested with zombie roaches feasting on carcasses, etc.

So after speaking with another rep on June 25, she said she’d pass the message to the first one and that I’d get a call back in a couple of days. Took a flight to NC with the fam on the 27th, waited, and no call.
I decided to randomly check my email and, sure enough, the rep sent an email stating that they’d refund the room service charge of $38… sorry!
I wrote back and said $38 was not good enough for the health risk we were subject to and that a full refund is the right thing to do - give me a full refund.
She wrote back on July 13th saying that “You stayed the night and checked out at 9am, so we aren’t giving a full refund.”

I replied with my EZPass statement on the 19th showing the tolls I drove through after leaving the casino after 1am until after 3:20am crossing the bridge back home.
It’s been ten days since and no reply.
Just sent a follow-up email with the toll statement again and will probably try getting the credit card company to do its job once more.

Still not happy, and now I’m thinking of leaving Caesar’s Ent. behind completely.

If you want to get their attention, go to their social media and leave a horrible review. Do that everywhere they have a listing. You'll be surprised how quickly they get back to you

You haven’t spoken to enough people. It’s always the third person that you speak to that will help you. If you stop at one or two you are screwed.

So you stay in a dump and complain this much about smelling a little weed ? Have you always been such a big baby ? What’s next going to the rainforest and whining about the rain ? Or going to a concert and crying about people standing and smoking weed there too ? Should everyone at the casino just stop enjoying their vacation because you don’t like the smell of weed ?

Lol totally not the point at all.

OP requested a non smoking room and there was evidence of marijuana smoke/odors nearby. OP went to the desk and was treated very rudely, hence the post. I don't think this would have even a problem if the management was professional and found a new room for OP that was smoke free.

I'm not the fun police here but everyone has the right to enjoy their R and R as seen fit. If no smoking is allowed on a floor it's not allowed.

OP is not a baby/NTA. They're not asking for anything unreasonable.

Should have had the wife call the manager's bluff by booking another nonsmoking room online while you were arguing with the manager.

First of all, the Trop was one of the top three casinos at Atlantic City, and you don’t get that rating by being a “dump”.
Second, if you read the whole post you would know it warrants this reaction. I’d like YOU to wake up in a smoke-filled room where you can’t breathe, but don’t you complain because, by your declaration, that’s regularly supposed to happen in a non-smoking room at a casino hotel. Your comparison to rain in a rainforest is fallaciously illogical.
Third, you seem triggered, possibly because I mentioned weed. Obviously you missed the point of my recount because you saw red after reading about weed smoke in my room. In your idiotic attack to defend all weed smokers who were(n’t) attacked in my post, you’ve shown how much of a disrespectful pansy you really are. They could have been smoking cigarettes or cigars - the point was that it was building up in my room and I have lung problems. But let me sacrifice my, and my wife’s, health so others can “enjoy their vacation”. You seem like the type of person who finds it acceptable to blast their music at 2AM on a weekday while driving down your residential street because you’re having a good time, then attack your neighbors who complain about you.
(THAT is a logical analogy!)

If I remember correctly, you’ve broken one of the site’s guidelines:
Be Polite
Do not post libelous, insulting, antagonistic, racist, discriminatory, aggressive, or otherwise abusive messages.
This is a place where we all come together and act like civilized adults (mostly), not like how you just did with your comment.
Grow up, friend.

Smoke filled room ? Hyperbole. How did the smoke build up in your room if you weren’t smoking ? Must be a crazy phenomenon where the smoke just gravitates through the walls and doors and builds up in your room only.

What happened happened. There are things called ducts and vents which connect to the rooms through the walls, and smoke can travel through them, if you didn’t know this. Your disbelief doesn’t make what happened an impossibility.
Stop with your harassing comments already. It’s clear you’re just trolling here, so piss off and keep your ignorance to yourself.

Walls and doors do not stop smoke from traveling into adjacent rooms.

Neither does the hotel manager either I guess
That’s for damn sure! Or maybe he doesn’t care that smokers are fumigating people in other rooms.
What puzzles me is this - How much, and for how long, does one need to smoke for it to amass as a cloud in another room?
I‘m sure this has been an ongoing issue that they’ve neglected to rectify.

I know this is an AC thread, but when I took the family to LV in December ‘21, the weed stench was definitely a turn-off for us. Love the town and everything there is to do. Hate the smell.
