Hi everyone,

I’m working on a custom cash game chip set and I’d really appreciate some honest feedback from people who know chips much better than I do.

These are still concept/mockup designs, not final production files. The idea is to create a clean, elegant “Milano Private Club” set with a premium black/gold table aesthetic. I’m aiming for something classy and timeless, not too flashy or overloaded.

The denominations I’m considering are:

1€
5€
25€
100€
500€
1000€

The set would mainly be used for private cash games, especially 2/5 and possibly 5/10.

A few things I’d love feedback on:

  1. Do the colors work well together as a full set?
  2. Are any denominations too similar or confusing at the table?
  3. Is the design too busy, or does it still feel clean enough?
  4. Would you change the edge spots / outer ring colors?
  5. Does the “Milano Private Club” theme look classy, or too generic?
  6. Any advice before I send this to a real designer/manufacturer?

I know these are AI/mockup-style concepts, so I’m mainly looking for direction before turning them into proper production-ready artwork.

Thanks in advance, I’d appreciate brutal and honest feedback.

I think they look great. You might want to make sure the 100 and the 500 are easily distinguishable when on edge to avoid dirty stacks.

Well done.
This. 100%. That 500 is way too dark and will definitely get mixed up with the 100. So if you want to use a purple color, go with a light lavender. I made a full custom set a few years ago with too dark of a purple 500 and had to have all the 500s remade.

i dig the design, but i find it odd that there is only one chip without any white in the design, and further that there are two white chips (the $1 and the $25 both use white as the base color).

Thanks a lot everyone, this is exactly the kind of feedback I was looking for.

The dirty stack point makes total sense. I agree that the 500 is probably too dark and too close to the 100 when viewed on edge, especially in lower light. I’ll work on changing the 500 to a lighter lavender / brighter purple so it stands out more clearly from the black 100.

Also i wanted an opinion on this similar design that i made, let me know which one you prefer.

Also, once the design direction is chosen, I’d like to turn it into a real custom chip set. Do you have any recommendations for where to buy/manufacture good quality custom chips?

I like this 25 a lot better than the mainly white 25, but like the original inlays much more than these.

Edited: but the lighter green wouldn't work well with the original color palette - just making a statement you could maybe tweak the original green with!

I like the second set a lot more, but it of course depends on what you are looking for.

I'd say the first set is a little more elegant but the colours are too similar, and if you are playing in anything other than stellar lighting then there will be big dirty stack issues.

The second is much more differentiated, plus, I really like your light blue $100 and then the black/gold $1000. If you get those $1000's on the table (which it sounds like you might playing 5/10 lol) they would really look premium and high valued as they should be.

edit: I didn't even notice that the $5 and $500 colours are swapped. I would probably have a red $5 and purple $500, but I still like the light blue $100

These look great. Love you chose standard colors for denominations. The stakes you play would imply more serious players that may play in casinos. I always think it’s best to stick to what your players will be used to seeing elsewhere

Are you dead set on the style you have in the first pic? These have the look of a plastic chip. I don't have much experience with those, but I think Sunfly and Matsui are a couple companies that you can order custom from. There are others that are even nicer that are based in Europe, like Abbiati and B&G, but I don't think they sell in small quantities to individuals.

Another less expensive option would be what we call "Tina" hybrid chips around here. They are a cheaper way to get fully custom chips with custom inlay designs that look somewhat like clay chips such as Paulson and CPC. You could get Tina hybrids and make them look similar to your original design, or you could get much more creative if you want.

Justin/Broken Arrow has a group buy for these every month and you can submit custom designs as well as buying any of the many stock designs that he already has. For your design above, the plain mold would probably look best, or like I said, the sky's the limit if you want to get crazy and use a mold and make them look more like compressed clay chips.

Another option if you like these - buy existing Tropicana Evansville chips made by Gemaco, and get custom labels for them. They are in a somewhat similar style to what you designed and are decent quality plastic chips with a slug. They weigh about 12g each, I think.

These $100 and $500 chips are available now - 300 chips for $225.

Hi everyone,
After all the feedback, this is the final chip set I’ve completed.
I’ll attach the photos below.
My budget is around €1,500 for the full set.
What would you recommend as the best option/manufacturer for this budget?
Thanks again for all the help.
