Hello folks. I’ve been flirting with the idea of buying no inlay plain mold CPC’s and applying a custom Giant inlay.

Anyone done this (on the textured plain)?
Do you have to “prep” the chip? And if so, how?
Who can you recommend to produce professional quality laminated giant inlays for personal use?

My end goal would be something like this…

If you don‘t want spinners, you have to mill these first to get a recess for the label (by Gear, for ex.)

I don‘t think anybody did this before…

Why not a an inlay directly from CPC??

From memory you can go larger in the design tool. But maybe only with certain molds. Not sure, though.

Maybe reach out to David Spragg and/or CPC Mike with a query of what's possible?

The inlay gets pressed into the chip (compression mould).
I would ask CPC what‘s possible, without smashing your budget.

I don‘t think it‘s cheaper to mill them and get custom labels…?
Or you mill them yourself and get Stickermule labels at around 12c /pc.

I would not just stick a label on top of a plain chip. I did it once for a dealer button, but it looks and feels cheap with the sticker on top.

Giant inlay chips tend to be more slippery.
There‘s less clay for ‚traction‘

This is the closest thing I've seen to a CPC giant inlay. You can see the rim of the recessed area that the inlay extends into ever so slightly. Pic is from Eisenstadt's chip mold index.

So, you want to order a bunch of no-molds, then pay someone to mill a recess to accommodate a 1 1/4" inlay?
I'd look for @BonScot to do the milling, and @Gear for the labels. There are also a few psychiatrists here on PCF, too. I'd also speak to one before starting your venture. Lol.
In all seriousness, there are more than a few reasons I'd consider NOT doing this. Costs being the first.
