Im looking to get a topper. I have a vague idea of what I want but have a few questions before I do it. One being will any colors blend in too much with the chips. Is that something I should keep in mind and if so what colors should I stay away from.

It is something to consider but it will typically be it depends ...
Some people go for a simple design, even plain, inside the betting line especially, but others don't. My cloth is fairly "busy" but I've not had any issues with chips disappearing into the table.
I'd avoid having chips in the cloth design or anything too colourful / too many colours but apart from that just be aware, which you are being by asking the question in the first place
