Full sample set of another Paulson set designed by me. I nearly lost my mind creating this one :D

A mix of 39mm and 43mm chips, and the 50mm all in chip.

Please post if you have questions about the item.

Item is in the UK but I'll ship worldwide. :)

For the daily bump, I thought it might be fun to share some of the history behind the Chicken Coop design evolution.

When Chicken Rob initially asked me to look at a CC design, there were 5 concepts for starters.

These included an 'Empress Chicken' Art Deco chicken and a 'Peanuts' inspired design that featured a Schulz-style chicken lying on top of a kennel-style coop. I called that character 'Coopy'. I liked Coopy, a lot!

Natch the concept that Rob elected to develop was the MGM-style chicken that eventually made it through to production.

Sadly, I no longer have the CC mock up with those initial concepts (following multiple device changes and Cloud storage host swaps, I lost 'em), so here are the GPI order sheets instead detailing the spot patterns and color combos:

When Rob originally got in touch, among the casino chips for he cited for inspiration were the MGM Grand:

Obv this was the concept of the original 5 that we chose to develop. On the rough mockup, I initially did MGM Chicken’s wings using Adobe Illustrator’s ‘Polar Grid’ tool. They were very rounded and looked even crazier than the end result chicken. Too crazy to live, basically. But a solid base for the design.

I was unsure how to approach the chicken wings and dial down the madness…

…but at one point I revisited some MGM Grand chip pics and noticed something interesting: the lion’s mane, if rotated, looked quite a lot like wings!!

So I basically retained the chicken head and created modified vector wings based off the MGM lion’s mane.

Distilled into an equation, for math fans:

When I'd cracked the wings and came up with this guy:

...I was quite pleased - I thought we were pretty much there / done.

That was when Chicken Rob said "That's great. I'd like each of the 12 chips to have a different facial expression."

I began to research all chickens throughout TV, movie, advertising and sporting history. I used elements from these to create a "build-a-chicken" construction kit - a series of modular, interchangeable eyes / beaks / combs that could be mixed and matched to create different chicken expressions on demand.

Those with a keen eye - the chickenados - will spot Looney Tunes and Aardman nods in the lineup, among others.

Here's a chicken that didn't make the cut - third eye / enlightened Chickzen:

She wasn't really a great fit for the comical cast of other chips. But she is a good indicator of some of the weird places the Chicken Coop project took my brain and the toll it took on my sanity. :D

This auction ends soon. I hope this sample set finds a good home - it's the only one I have and it was a fun project!

Spice / confusion should be added to proceedings with the clocks rolling back today. Have fun and thanks for your interest! :)

These awesome updates alone are worth a bid. Thanks for sharing these, @Toby

i love how each chicken is different
The opposite reason of this, is why I don’t have any.

To each their own…what a hobby!

Man, I don’t know. It’s gotta have lead to even be a candidate. Maybe even a shaped label, but that’s just me. It’s a varied hobby after all. Just not sure these are “grail”, I do dislike this term, as it is really only relative to eye of the beholder. To each their own
