Is there any organizations etc that help put on charity tournaments?

I think it could be a cool way to try to find players and games, and network with business owners in the community

But I only have hosted a reckless cash homegame

How do you find dealers etc.

I'm sure there are casino rental operations somewhere near you.

Pick a charity that would likely have a lot of community support. First responders, local hospital, food bank, animal welfare tends to bring folks out.

Such events aren't legal is many jurisdictions. In some cases, the rules are bent for favored parties and enforced for unfavored parties.

There are work-arounds. You gamble for play money which can then be used in some sort of auction for donated goodies. Or perhaps you get to play a free roll at a bar hoping to win prizes but are expected to buy food and/or drinks.

Here in Texas, the local chamber of commerce could run a casino night event with back-jack, craps, roulette, but NOT poker. We got a written opinion from the AG's office formally forbidding poker events with any sort of prize based on the outcome of the game.

I encourage anyone considering an event to seek legal advice. The penalties can be rather severe (but often aren't, for the right people.). -=- DrStrange

I’m only a few minutes from Nevada. A couple months ago the police were having a charity fundraiser there. So there’s ways to do it. I guess I’ll just do a little more research on the Google web.

I'll have to find this, its very strange you can run craps and not poker. Regulators really hate poker for some reason.
