I’m not sure if this has been covered in the past or not. I sold off my Paulson set a few months back which I now regret. Fast forward to today I have a set of Tina Webmolds that I am using while considering my next Paulson build. Assuming it will take time to build a set given some of the challenges with exchange and tariffs since I’m located in wonderful Canada….

Question I have is the variation I see in the injection marks on ceramics. In particular Br Pro vs Tina. It seems the injection points are fairly noticeable and more outward on the Tina’s vs Br Pro. Way back I didn’t notice the marks by feel on my Tiki set vs my webmolds. Don’t get me wrong the webmold hybrids are excellent for the money I just noticed they almost protrude. When smoothing out a barrel in play recently I really noticed it.

Photos for reference. Anyone else have thoughts

I think all the hybrids have much larger marks than the BRPro chips, and web mold has the most pronounced marks of all.
I did find a monster injection mark on one of the Greek mold chips I have. It’s more like a blister. :ROFLMAO:

I can only assume it’s a result of the dye they are using. Not a deal breaker by any means but I was surprised how pronounced they were comparing to the Br Pros

I noticed the same (blister) on a sample set but...I don't even think in your photo that is the injection spot. I wound up shaving the injection protrousions off on my sample set and then later found the blister. I bet if you spin that chip around you'll find the injection mark. I think ChippinUp is correct. That's lumpy dye.

Yeah, it was the injection, but it was an oversized bump. The problem with shaving them off is that the color comes off as well. Since due sub printing is so thin, it leaves behind a white dot where the bump was.

A small white spot that I see only if I'm looking for it is less annoying to me than something I'd feel regularly.
It would be nice if they spent a few seconds per chip to knock down the high spot before dying them.
I think it would be worth the slightly higher cost.

Curious if anyone has a pic of it sanded down. I would assume it’s pretty noticeable.

That nipple is the reason I won't buy a set of Tina's. Can't believe they can't modify the injection port to under the label?

I mean the value in Tina’s cannot be beat imo but my initial post was about the difference between the br pro injections marks vs Tina. I barely noticed them from a feel perspective on my Tiki or DDLM.

Yes, you can see them. I agree I would not buy a set because I can feel them and don't want to put the effort into shaving them down and dealing with the resulting "dot" that is left. However...If I already had a set I'd shave them with a sharp knife. The bumps are terribly annoying in my opinion. The first chip I tried to fix was the grey $10 chip about in the middle. The sanding went beyond the dot and removed dye on the edge of the chip. I think a sharp knife is the way to go if you're going to cut off the nibs. I used a knife on every chip except the grey one.
Sometimes you get lucky and it's a light color and it's not so obvious. From far away yes you can see the dots if you are looking for them but unless they are all lined up as in my photos they don't really jump out at you.
