Sad news that Bill Walton passed away today at 71 from cancer. The best college basketball player ever. Could rebound and shoot the bank shot with the best of them. Brought the Celtics to see the Grateful Dead in Worcester in the 80’s to the fans delight. Sat next to him at Red Rocks in 2004 with tickets I got from Phil Lesh at the Red Sox - Rockies game that day. Definitely better than sitting behind him. Sad day .

Wow. Hadn’t heard this. Remember watching him playing basketball for UCLA, then the Blazers, and of course his unique commentating style.

Yeah, Bill was a fixture at all of the Dead shows. Saw him all of the time. Hard to miss!

That guy loved everything! The enthusiasm. Watching him tell stories was a treat.
