Hey longtime chiptalk member that’s been away from the chip world for a while. Recently getting back into hosting games, I missed all things chips :). I have a PCA cash set with four racks of $1s and one rack of PCA $5s, 80 PCA $25’s and 20 Empress $100’s. I really need to find two more racks of the PCA $5’s, is that even possible anymore ? Great to see a thriving chip community still up and running.

Welcome back. Plenty of PCA $5s, but they are going for between $430-$500 a rack these days.

Wait. What ? They’ve gone up that much, I’m shook. *sells rack instantly* I’ve been out of the chip game for waaaay too long. Appreciate the info ! Out of curiosity, what are racks of PCA $1’s going for ? Barrels of PCA $25 and Empress $100? Sorry for all the questions :)

The important question are we talking primarily or secondary chips?

Secondary are the chips with the real value.
Secondary $1’s go for about $1.60/ chip. Secondary $25’s for about $3/chip.

Empress $100’s $5 to $9 is my best guess depending on which chip and condition.

Yeah they've gone up heapsm i sold my original racks of $5s for $150 lol

Secondary chips

$0.50 - $300-$350
$1s - $150-$170 maybe
$25 - $275-$325
$100 $700-$750ish

Ball park estimate ? About 10 of the $1s have yellowish inlays. I’m definitely going to be looking to sell them off to purchase a bigger , more playable set. Appreciate the honesty on the value guys. the empress $100 and PCA $25 are in great condition. The $5s are in decent condition , just smoothed out and worn from play.

Unfortunately my $1s are far from mint :-/

PCA primaries -- most very used -- are much more reasonably priced. Rack prices for used primary $1, $5, and $25 chips tend to sell for around $1/chip up to $1.25, with the $100s selling for around $3.50 in really good shape.

Empress Casino primary $100s go for about $3/chip, unless in near-mint condition (pretty rare). The secondaries are priced a bit higher.

I'd value your 600-chip set at around $650-$700.

Thank you. Good to know..might be better off hunting for a couple racks of nicely used $5 primaries

I have also been building a pca set I came across quite a few racks of the ones fives and fifty cents. I love these chips. Almost all of my ones and fives are worn and rounded but they're still awesome chips. Hope you get the opportunity to pick up a rack or two for your set!!

Thanks Brie ! The more I think about the more I’m leaning towards a cheaper , bigger cash set. My main group of friends who play in my games are animals and don’t deserve to touch the PCA’s if I’m being honest lol

Certainly can understand that!!! I have a primary set and working on a secondary set as well, the primary ones and fives are relatively reasonable (from my understanding not as cheap as they used to be) but I was able to build my set and mostly complete it in a month or two without any chips to start. These chips are loved here so you shouldn't have a problem selling them!!! Good luck with your search for a new set!!
