Any other working/hobbyist photographers here? (1 Viewer)

Back in high school, which wasn't that long ago for me as most know, I did quite a BIT of car photography. I had built up quite a name around the Vegas valley for being someone to have shoot your car and did it with quite a few people. This was before COVID, so it basically started from my senior year of high school into probably my sophomore year of college. This was 2017 to about 2020ish or so.

I've always used my nickname, Okku, for anything that I've done creative related and those that are close in my family call me Okku instead of Oscar.

I'll share some of my favorite pictures below and you can find my instagram too which is where I was always posting pictures. Daily at points and I was really trying to gain a following but this was way before I really knew anything about marketing or anything related to that. Probably would've gotten bigger if I kept pushing with social media back then, but I got somewhat scared during COVID and backed off quite a bit from going out, huge meetups etc.

Would love to get back into this stuff because it's the same as design work. You shoot someone's car, edit the pictures, make them look nice and deliver to get an exciting message back that they love them and then word spreads. It's the greatest feeling!

Great Stuff! I had a feeling I'd be seeing a post from you. I knew you being a creative, you'd be into photography as well. You could for sure do this on the side for fun/cash. I feel like the car scene/photos blew up because of instagram.

Not delved into my Lightroom catalog for a while now, and looks like a bunch of my Automotive stuff is missing. Here are a few on the more asbract side of things that I liked, and one I took at the British Touring Cars. I'll go through the aviation stuff soon, hopefully they are are still in the library!

These are great man! I like your take on shooting cars. I know nothing about cars lol but found these very interesting. Love the detail shots

Really enjoyed looking at the pics in this thread and would like to see more…I’ll kick it off with some of my favorites over the years…

After Nam and getting out of the Army, while going to grad school and for about twenty years after, I enjoyed doing weddings most weekends. Always a Nikon addict, I started with a Nikon F and a Mamiya C-330, then added Bronica S-2As. When I gave it up in the early 90s, I sold half a dozen 2-1/4s and about a dozen Nikons, plus about twenty lenses, for an unbelievable price to a fellow in DC who was buying up any quality equipment he could find and sending it all to China.

The only disaster I ever had was in buying a load of fresh film up in Massachusetts to do a wedding, and having most of that film turn out to be bad. The worst part was that it was my sister's wedding... o_O

Crazy, all the medium format I posted was from a bronica S2A! Very affordable camera with amazingly good Nikon lenses. Would love to see some of your past work.

Sorry to bump an old thread but was going through old black and white negatives and found this shot taken roughly around 2014. Nothing crazy but I love the compression of all the buildings and I want to say this is in the tropicana entryway which is no longer there. Always love discovering old shots I forgot I took and how different things are where the image was taken.

I had forgotten about this thread until @Dcarl bumped it earlier.

I've been a longtime member of the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum on the outskirts of Tucson:

https://www.desertmuseum.org/

and decided on a whim to go out there on Boxing Day, mostly go get out of the house and get some fresh air, but also as I hadn't had the opportunity to do so in a few months. I loaded the camera and big lens and almost didn't bother taking it in as the place was a bit busy, but in the end I'm glad I did.

A handful of highlights.

I'm mostly sure this was a Costa's Hummingbird that sat still long enough for this one photo. They are tricky little critters to photograph.

Jackrabbit with enough foreground and background plants and shrubs to enhance the bokeh in this otherwise limited color palate photo. This might be my favorite of the trip except I wound up having a different model that properly wanted to show off:

"Alright Mr. Demille, I'm ready for my closeup."

Then quite honestly, 90 seconds later, "I'm done." :ROFLMAO:

A nice post-Christmas afternoon. Low-key after all of the holiday family and friends festivities, and a perfect warm afternoon to be outside.

The Desert Museum is a local treasure. It's a must-see for any out of town family or visitors and definitely recommended to anyone new to the area. It's hard to describe as it's a combination natural history museum, botanical garden, zoo and art gallery all rolled into one. What it really does is showcase this unique little desert environment here in southern Arizona and demonstrate that a desert isn't really that deserted.

Good stuff! What lens? Looks a bit tighter than a 70-200 but i could be wrong

Canon 100-400 Type-II. I was pleasantly surprised how little time I spent at 400mm when I looked back at the embedded data.

Not a lot of cropping either. I've been experimenting trying to frame my shots before taking the photo as this was a lesson I had in my high-school (film!!) photography class many, many moons ago. It was the composition part of the course and I find I get lazy with that at times so I 'redo' that lesson on my own now and then as a refresher.
