10K (200 BB)
30-minute levels
2-hour duration

More BBs in starting stacks, longer levels, simpler blind amounts. Perfect.

@BGinGA - This may not be exactly what you were looking for, but it's the best I can do without going back to the paper records and re-compiling the data. So the disclaimers first...

• The X axis shows the starting BB to the blinds at the current level. I know you asked for average chipstack, but as people are Ko'ed the average chipstack goes up. That average is also affected if a player rebuys.
• Since we give rebuys 110% the starting stack, but the player must forfeit any live chips they have in front of them. We do not track how many chips were forfeit, so the exact number of chips in play is lost anytime a player rebuys without being felted.
• This covers our mode starting stack. When attendance is low (ice storms in 2015 and 2016) we increase starting stacks. Also, the year-end event is a freezeout, and starting stacks are larger for those events.
• Level 1 is 25/25, Level 2 is 25/50, so the M of level 2 isn't exactly 2x the M of level 1. Level 3 however is 50/100, and the M is 2x that of level 2.

I hope this covers what you were looking for. Like I said, I could try to extrapolate the data to see how many players were still in at each level and get a more precise number of BB the average player had, but that would be even more work (i.e. it would be back-burnered and likely forgotten).

I think that data is useful for what it is.

But I think as starting-stack-BBs start approaching 20BB, graphing the data with actual average-stack-BBs in play would provide a lot more insight into how the blind structure is actually performing (if the desire was to tweak level duration based on bust-out frequency). Particularly the latter levels (<2BB), which would likely mirror the first several levels to some degree, I would guess. It would also be enlightening to see how the average-stack-BBs progresses throughout the duration of an event, too...... and how that affects bust-outs.

Worth going back and drumming up all of the historical data? Debatable. Worth tracking going forward? I would say yes, probably. You got me deep-thinking, at the very least. (y) :thumbsup:

I plan to start tracking average stack size at the start/mid-point/end of every blind level, along with how many bust-outs/re-buys occurred at each level. That should get me the data I need for long-term tracking and subsequent evaluation. If you managed to do the same, we'd have quite a bit of joint data in a relatively short time.

I was thinking the same thing. One or 2 players being KOed (in a 20 player tourney) does not affect the SS/BB ratio, but once 50% of the field is down, that effectively doubles the ratio. I'll see about incorporating the data. The records spreadsheet only covers 19 tabs... one more completes a barrel, right?

The structure below works well for a two-hour single-table 10K tournament (the qualifier satellites for the Shootout at the Post use this format): It's definitely a turbo-style, with 10K stacks, 50/100 starting blinds (100BB), and blind increases ranging from 50%-67% (avg 58%), with no 100% jumps.

Designed to last either 2.5 hours (15 minute levels) or 3.0 hours (20 minute levels), it will end no later than Level 10. Likely to finish around 2 hours with just 8 players and 15-minute levels.

Six players with 10k stacks using 15-minute levels should finish no later than L8 or L9 (20bb = 1500/3000 level), so roughly 2:00 to 2:15 plus breaks at most. Five players should finish by L8.
