Poker chip preference is to the discretion of the owner. We all know that this site spoils us with so many high end options, and great looking chips.
Not all new PCF members can afford or want to sp[end thousands of dollars for Paulsons. There are many reasonably priced options for most on here.
I don't think there is a right or wrong in picking what chips to use for personal home games.
I personally started out using a Casino Ace set for my home games, and I liked them, but I have upgraded since, mostly for a better fit to match my Poker Room theme. I spent a bit more than I ever thought I would, but I do love the new chips.
I fear the more threads I see, that I will have no choice but to get into higher end chips, just for the looks and feel, if for nothing else. It could be a beginning of an addiction

Regardless of the chips used, it will depend upon the amount of players, and having tournament or cash games as to the minimum amount of chips that have to be purchased for a home game. Less are required for a cash game set up, and higher denomination chips can be used for buyins.
