    Tourney WTHC Sanity Check

That^^^^^ I absolutely hate more than four colors in play at a time (and I prefer three colors, but that's not always realistic). Of course, if you're playing in a big stack tournament, like a season-ending championship, then it may be necessary if you don't have a huge tournament set, but...

    Common house fee

Well, isn't that interesting?!?!? Or, maybe I'm just more focused on social aspects (and my sanity) than profits.

    Common house fee

Just make sure you only invite people you can beat on a regular basis. That way, you don't have to do anything illegal and still make a profit. I'm kidding, of course....kind of.

    Tourney Player leaving mid-tournament

If a player wants to sit there and fold every hand, the player is allowed to do so. So, what's the difference if he is there or not? The answer is: not much, but there is one difference. I'll discuss that difference in a second. So, if a player can sit there, fold every hand until there are...

Cash Game Time Rake considerations in low stakes GA poker.

I think it has nothing to do with finding loopholes and/or a viable model and everything to do with charity. While I'm no legal expert, to the best of my knowledge, any form of poker in which money exchanges hands, regardless of whether or not there is a rake, is illegal in Georgia.

Managing sit outs and who gets a seat

If I RSVPd, showed up on time, and still didn't have a seat behind 4 people who didn't RSVP, I'd be highly upset. When somebody RSVPs, it's up to you to tell them they may not have a seat if that's the case. Otherwise, a player can reasonably expect they will get to play when they arrive on time.

    Rebuys and Addons Question

There is absolutely no such thing as an 8 to 10-player, two-hour tournament with rebuys. There is a such thing as a two-hour shovefest with rebuys.

Tourney legality around holding poker tournaments outside of the home - hotel conference room etc.

These things differ not only by state, but by county and city, too. Best thing to do is to ask your local Sheriff's office.

When do you switch a no limit game to fixed limit?

Sounds to me, and maybe I'm completely off base here, that your priorities are very different than the other players' priorities. They are looking for a friendly game that is more an excuse to get together and socialize than it is to actually play poker. You are looking for a low-stakes (or...

Pocket 10's UTG, Am I a Nitty Nit?

Hero's pre-flop raise is way too high from UTG, even at a six-handed table. With TT, you're looking for a little pot control so, if you are re-raised, you have options other than fold or shove. Fortunately for hero, the BB's re-raise was too small and hero had the option to call or re-raise...

Tourney Help Me Come Up With a Good Points Structure for a Tournament League

I didn't see anybody else comment on this, but I only scanned the posts and didn't read them all. So, if already said, I apologize. Whatever you do, define the number of tournaments that will make up the season and stick to it, no matter what! It's far better to postpone tournaments to a...

I think I actually managed to hang on to one of those for a couple levels once.

I'd be broke within 3 hours!!!!

    Rake structure?

Sounds to me like these are games players may want to avoid from now on. Too many people in the know about them. (Assuming rakes are illegal in NC, which I'm pretty sure they are.)

    Family game for poker noobs

I'd go with tournaments instead of cash games. Then, you could set the stakes to anything, including nothing. To add an element of fun, have a house trophy or something that the last winner can brag about and lord over the rest of the family or something.

    Donk Story/Vent Thread

I like to think my image is that of a Norse God capable of incredible feats of strength and mentalism, but that doesn't mean it's true. (Sorry...I'm just teasing. I couldn't resist.) Seriously, it sounds like you had some decent cards and just weren't hitting. To put it politely, it happens...

    Donk Story/Vent Thread

Never, ever, ever tell that to anybody (and actually mean it). All you are telling people when you say that is that you can't win unless you get good cards. That's not the image you want to be portraying.

Tourney League format - final table

As a player who was the short stack after barely making it to the championship table and as a regular season champion who had the chip lead starting the champion table (and everywhere in between), I can attest that the system works very well. You play the regular season for a reason. Those who...
