I'll let gear answer but one of the best things you can do is missing from the price list: order a sample set! I was convinced I needed one type of label, once I had the goods in hand it was clear I preferred a different style.

I find Guilds very similar to stock Modianos, from the font to the face cards to the thickness down the box they come in. I prefer Modiano Texas Poker between the two of them, but I'm really open to any nice card other than Copag.

After posting that I've only had chips (older Milanos) break when dropped on the floor, on Saturday I had one break when tossed into the pot (we use a velvet lined dice tray to make it easy to collect and award pots). I didn't charge the player since it is normal for us to toss chips.

My Milanos are pretty well used (bought here), drops on a concrete floor has broken a couple but nothing from ordinary use or drops on wood flooring or carpet, and even most concrete drops do nothing. I just have a policy that if you drop a chip and it breaks you owe me face value of the chip...
