Is there a "don't oil your chips" school of thought?

Cool catch. I’m thinking that has to be two different molds.

The Official Mail Showcase Thread (poker related)

Also arriving today are 96 more watermelon birds from @StevenB88. If you have any doubt, this man evaluates chip condition fairly. VG+ on the top, VG on the bottom. Super satisfied with how he represented them. The whole family... Some need some mineral oil and they should be good to go!

    Best Oil Method for Paulsons?

I'll take a barrel, and while stacked neatly, put some oil on my thumb by using said thumb to cap my oil bottle and invert. Smear the oil down one side of the barrel and repeat on the opposite side of the barrel. While still holding the barrel tightly, smear the oil to completely coat the...

Canceled Have Golden Nugget $2 Want HM Black $100 or IOC $25

I harvested these GN $2 myself and expected to use them as a HM $100 with a Black GN label to help get a "Black $100" look. What went wrong is that I cleaned them and free of hooker juice they shine too bright. They are no longer a black chip candidate for me. I include a picture of a...

    First ultrasonic experience

As a first-time ultrasonic user, I would love to know your details and experience. Which brand of tsp you used and what the ratio of it to water was. The temperature of the ultrasonic and how long you cleaned each batch The amount of fading of each chip after they were dry and whether you had...

    Oiling Chips Done Right

Is there a specific reason not to put any oil on the faces of new CPCs? Does any of this "dustiness" on the edges carry over onto the faces? I would think at least the outer rim where the mold is would benefit from a touch of oil.

    Oiling Experiment

Looking and feeling the chips after a week and there is no discernible “oily” residue on them vs an unoiled chip. And they still look good. I went back to a 30:1 ratio, the 60:1 was too much oil, the oil was separating from the mixture a bit. I’m going to start oiling the rest of my chips...

    Paulson Poker Chips cleaning

Some people will tell you just to oil the edges. I don’t buy that. I use the oil-and-water method, using a salad spinner to dunk about a rack of chips at a time. You need very, very little mineral oil with this method. Like half a cap for hundreds of chips. Then spread them out on a towel...

    Sold T Mold Blanks

The dry, cracked look is pretty prevalent on these chips. It is superficial and goes away with a light application of oil. That is the same chip face after a very light application and wipe off. (you can still see the dryness in the recesses)

I keep buying chips so I have to sell chips. I harvested these GN $2 myself and expected to use them as a HM $100 with a Black GN label to help get a "Black $100" look. What went wrong is that I cleaned them and free of hooker juice they shine too bright. They are no longer a black chip...

Take care of your things and they'll take care of you!

https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/oiling-chips-done-right.14343/ Whilst I am sceptical of "Compression Oiling" I do believe that individually wiping a chip with a tiny bit of oil on a cloth is the superior method. Plus, if you wipe each chip down anyway, I'm not sure you're saving any time...

    Oiling Chips Done Right

There’s probably “fake” milanos, but in the end they’re all plastic. One thing I’ve noticed is that chips in general don’t need to be oiled on the face. I think one thing to be careful with especially with CCs is making sure you don’t over oil the faces and ruin the inlay. Theres not much...

If you feel so inclined to clean these you could do some warm water and dawn dish soap. Go over each chip with a soft toothbrush. Use a dental pick to get the gunk out of the small crack. Let them dry on a towel. Then go back over them, chip by chip, and put mineral oil on them. They will look a...

    Sold BIG VINEYARD SET (Tina's)

Yes you can. Then again, you could also mix chocolate chip cookie mix, 2 eggs, and vegetable oil with Paulson Vineyards. But I wouldn’t recommend it.
