I'll admit to having not read most of the posts here. If this is happening, and there is room, I'd love to be included.

I can pay my money and keep my mouth shut haha.

@TheDuke, @justsomedude is a constant naysayer. He’s been discouraging people from attempting this since the news of the boat buy broke (he was one of the chosen ones for it). He has consistently preached that it can’t be done again and to not even waste your time trying. It is about the motives that were discussed previously.

I hope it continues to get pulled off, that way we little people might actually be able to afford some of this new, cool stuff. The more that are out there, the less profit the lucky ones get.

Uhm. Have you read ANY of my posts here?

I'm guessing not. Since I pointed out numerous ways to get the process started (although they've since been redacted).

I would consider it an absolute privilege to be able to participate, and appreciate the fact that both relationships and discretion are crucially important for matters such as this. Hopefully, at some point I will be given an opportunity by someone to be involved in a group buy.

Yeah, his replies seemed very angry and condescending towards me. So I did a quick search on the classified and discovered he was a past participant.

Not sure what his motivations were for his disdain about my curiosity but it's becoming a bit clearer. May have hit a nerve as he's not replying anymore - just posting memes.

If you're really not aware of what's transpired here over the last 18 months, then I will give you the benefit of the doubt, and try to ignore your sh*tty attitude.

In short:
- Chippers used secret Paulson orders as leverage against other chippers.
- Chippers used secret Paulson orders to try and get other chippers in legal trouble.
- Another chipping forum was created at one point due to the hate/angst/animosity between different cliques of chippers.
- GPI was forced to completely replace a set of WSOP chips (at their own cost) due to a GB set being "outed" to Caesar's.
- GPI was made aware that PCF was behind the mimicked WSOP chips in question, and rumor has it they were furious with the forum.

Look... I have no issue with people contacting GPI or making serious efforts to get an order through. But you have to know how many problems/mistrust/bullsh*t these orders have created. Not just for us, but for GPI as well.

Furthermore, sharing specifics simply is not wise. If some one else tries to take the same exact approach, it could tank any ongoing order/GB attempts that may be in place. That could seriously risk any deposit/funds that have already been committed to GPI. And in that regard, most people here would rather play it safe and think of what other attempted buys they may or may not know about, than to share some small tidbit of info just to make some ornery chipper happy for the sake of his rabid curiosity.

That being said, go bananas.

Make as many Paulson chips as you want.

My advice: if it really looks like you're about to get an order through... keep it to yourself. Why? See bullet points above. ^

I may regret sharing this, but I have a connection at Alibaba through my barber's wife's cousin's brother in law's ex housekeeper's friend. I'm not bragging, but if anyone has any interest, and is willing to undergo a thorough vetting process, I'm pretty sure I could get a large quantity of official casino weight Paulson quality chips designed and sent through the cover of darkness to an undisclosed location.

This would then require mules to move the chips into the hands of the lucky chosen few. Please send copies of ID cards, personal financial information, and $3 via Paypal (so I know you're a serious player) to: [email protected].

I appreciate the info. I really am ignorant of all of this. My join date is 2017 but I haven't been actively looking at this forum until this spring/summer 2019 (you'll be able to confirm via my post history). I honestly had no idea about all of these sets until this year - I think the first time I saw one was in one of the custom chip threads where Harlequin posted a snap of his amazing set.

I've heard about most of this stuff, but not about the GB outed to Caesar's that forced GPI to redo WSOP chips. If anyone cares to enlighten, great, if not, no worries.

OK. Then I apologize for being condescending in response to your posts. Sometimes I assume (incorrectly) everyone kind of knows the history of these buys.

You have to know that these orders are pretty big deals to those who are involved in them. People are risking serious $$$ at a possibly once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get their own set of Paulsons. Posting specifics/details of how to get an order through could risk any other ongoing efforts and destroy established relationships with GPI, which means risking other people's time and hard earned money.

In short, it's just not wise to share details. One, for the sake of other people's money. Two, to avoid the nonsense/drama. And three, since I think it needs to be said, it's just really none of our business.

EDIT: I'd be happy to discuss more via PM. I just really think these public arguments about details need to stop. There are likely ongoing attempts at orders at this very moment, and it would be very unfortunate if this thread sandbagged those attempts.

I take this as a sign of your interest. Are you interested as a buyer or simply participating as a mule? Mules will be provided with plenty of lubrication, as body cavities are the only secure method of transport. For this reason, we will try to limit all designs to 39mm chips. Of course, anyone able to accept 43mm and up will be compensated with an autographed headshot of Howard Lederer.

For security, most of the open communication should be done using GIF's, as these are less searchable by those who wish us to not succeed.

So you get the chance. And in planning your grail purchase, you realize there are no re-orders. So you buy for every possible contingency, definitely more than you need today...but maybe someday.

And then you realize there is 30% of your chips that will never see the felt.

And then you realize selling those chips you're not using will fetch enough to cover your entire outlay. And while that may feel dirty, you know if you sell at your cost, someone else will realize that profit.

And so you start an auction and become what you loathe.

My opinions only, so YMMV

I was/am not involved with any group buy, this is just my own personal opinion on most of these Paulson group buy events.
I believe the above was well stated and most likely true. (again, my opinion, not necessarily fact)
I like to believe the intent was not to create a group buy to make bank off fellow members.
Those involved in the boat chips may have gone through the exact scenario above and started to move some of the chips.
This forum went crazy, prices went through the roof on them & made it too good of a deal for some to pass up selling (who would right??)
None of that bothers me.

What bothers me is the buys done with the sole intent of making huge profits off other members. I have no issues with a free market, but if that is the case take them to eBay where you can make as much as you want. It really rubs me wrong for a "fellow member" only wanting to make bank off selling to me.
I realize the chips are fetching what people are willing to pay, it just surprises me that so many here are so happy about it.

Anyways, back to my own little world
carry-on.........

It would really be something special if someone managed to get a big paulson buy and sold off the chips they were not going to keep at or near their cost.

I'm not saying this because I would/could do it. I honestly dont know if I could sell them at or near cost if it came right down to it. The temptation to make that kind of money is huge. I mean you talking a 6 figure payday if you get a significant buy through. I'm not saying that all the buys were made for profit, infact, I think that for the most part the boat chips were bought by people that wanted to keep the chips. Some of them were definatley bought for resale though.

I will also say this. The prices that these chips go for on the secondary market seems absurd to me. I mean, they are nice, dont get me wrong, but when you can buy actual casino chips, that are leaded, with shaped and textured inlays for half the cost I dont know why anyone would spend that kind of money on them. It's not like they are particularly rare either. I think there were something like 300k boat chips made. The other buys were smaller but I still wouldnt consider any of these sets to be "rare".

Also the prices these chips go for on the secondary market is completely up to the buyers. Almost everyone willing to pay top dollar for poker chips is on this fourm. If everyone simply refused to pay the huge prices they wouldnt sell for huge prices, and maybe, just maybe there would actually be a chance of a large group buy being pulled off that is simply for the purpose of collecting chips.

I have no problem with anyone selling chips for whatever they can get for them. I just think that the prices these chips command are insane, and as long as there is a ton of money to be made by purchasing chips from paulson, the secret buys will continue and there isnt any real hope of getting a large group together and all just getting the number of chips that they want to keep.

So well said !

So all the guys who take all the risk, and put up all the money upfront, should resell at cost, then me and you snap buy them all and take them to eBay for $7 a piece is fair? We are talking fantasy level unicorns and rainbows here.

That's not the point of what was said. He was well aware it was a dream scenario. No need to be a Debbie Downer.

That is in fact a real dilemma.
No one expects any Paulson chip to ever be sold at cost, why would anyone ever risk their financial interest for zero profit?
It is just Fantasy land to think someone would have an "IN" & create a large order and then sell them on this forum for say - double their money?
Nope, that is not good enough. You must extract maximum value that only the top small % can afford.
Hey I get it, its free enterprise. Just not something I want to support.
