I hate hypocrites. Especially those who make a major stink about something, dredge others through the mud for it and act extremely sanctimonious... then turn around later and do the exact same thing.

I had a coworker that filed a complaint against another coworker. Said they were creating a hostile work environment. They made a huge stink, dragged a nice person through the mud, and the person they accused really hadn’t done anything wrong. They essentially lied because the first person had a work opportunity others didn’t get. It was pure jealousy. Then the accuser started doing the same things they accused the first person of doing when they had a similar later opportunity at work. Cmon, we can all see through the hypocrisy
1) when people pack chip boxes great but then put less than 100 chips in them and don't add extra padding so the chips inevitably roll right out of the barrels
2) when people adequately pack chip boxes but still decide to tape the entire EDIT [chip] box so you have to cut tape off all four sides to get it open
3) when people require a signature for delivery but don't let me know beforehand (thank you but just give me a heads up)

I hosted a game at a friend's house and a drunk dude was trying to talk to me about my chips. He asked how much they weighed (eye roll) and I said they weigh about 9 grams (36mm WSOP) so he said oh they're not 11.5 grams like the ones they use in casinos? I said we'll ACTUALLY they're from a casino that closed in Cleveland. So he picked one up and looked at it and said Ohhhhh these are plastic.

A chip box that isn't 100% taped on the outside isn't "adequately packed". Provides necessary extra protection against puncture and moisture damage.
Sorry it takes you an extra 40 seconds to open the package, but is far outweighed by the alternative (missing or damaged goods).

I was about to say, I tape the living shit out of the box exterior. I'm not leaving anything to chance.
And it took me a long while to get into the box you sent me. It was so well packed, customs didnt even attempt to look inside it, in spite of the fact that they held it for a month.
That was the definition of bombproof packing. I was very impressed

There's plenty of ways you can ensure the box will never open unless the entire package is destroyed and I've sent/received hundreds of packages with multiple boxes (plenty internationally) and not one came even close to having a chip box pop open. If you're unsure your packaging is done well, tape away.

It has absolutely nothing to do with how well the insides are packed..... it's about providing extra protection against damage to the outside of the box, by forces over which you have no control (but can easily help minimize their effects). It's cheap insurance, and well worth the extra time required to initially apply and subsequently remove.
It only takes one disaster to drive the point home.

I might have said this before, but what brings my gears are people that don't:

Are you talking about “boxes” as in packages like USPS MFRB that chips are shipped in or actual boxes that chips are stored in (like warneke/Paulson). If the former I think were in complete agreement so... kewl kewl. If the latter, when I mention appropriate packaging I mean of the shipping box (including padding inside the shipping box) not inside the chip boxes themselves. By packing the shipping box appropriately you have nearly complete control protecting against damage to the outside of the [warkene/Paulson] chip box itself. Things outside of that control I guess would be if a truck ran it over the package or a postage worker decided to see if they could drop it off the top of a 10 story building? In which case I don’t think taping some warneke boxes closed are going to save the chips.
I’m also not 100% anti-tape on warneke boxes though I do think it’s overkill to a well constructed package. I do it sometimes too but I don’t cover the entire chip box with masking tape thinking it’s got to be waterproof (outside of all my packages already are). I wrap hockey tape around each box once or twice which is incredibly easy to unwrap and give you nearly the same security.
Again this was what grinds MY gears. I get it though, everyone’s got an opinion.

Very much agreed - packing tape doesn't mix well with chip boxes. You either end up peeling the face of the box off or just cutting around the bottom perimeter to get in - I have a few boxes that have probably been shipped a dozen times that are practically glazed with packing tape, lol. I forget who I initially got the idea from, but every chipper should have a role of blue or green painters tape - this works perfectly for securing chip boxes, both for storage or shipping inside flat rate boxes - and it peels right off without damaging the box, leaving the box nice and clean. Leave the clear packing tape for the USPS boxes.
What's worse IMHO is wrapping chip barrels completely in packing tape. I've gotten some that were so covered in tape that I needed a razor to get it open, which is never a good tool to use around chips....

I have always been a fan of wrapping a 100-chip chipbox in Saran Wrap, then taping the ever-loving shit out of it. Tape does not tear up the box, and chips can be liberated either with a razor used where the cardboard would open, or by picking through one end and sliding out the whole package.
Yep, painter's tape is what I use. Wrapping them tight with plastic film (Saran wrap) works, too.
