Hey everyone. I’m starting to look for some chips. Been doing some research and the tophat and cane Paulson seem really nice. Have seen some prices on eBay and they tend to be $6-$10 per piece. Trying to figure out if that is true market or just eBay prices. Any help would be appreciated.

My friend has a set of these... I like the ones he has. Want to try and get a set of my own. Seems the prices have gone up a lot since he bought his though

Hello and welcome!

Those are just eBay prices. There are some real joker who are asking sickening amounts of money for them. Easily 3x or more of what I would consider market value. I've got sales on right now starting at only $1.25 per chip.

Welcome. Definitely overpriced, you can find decent Paulsons here for under $1/chip depending on what you're looking for.

Ok that’s good to know. Where is the best place to find them? Here? If so what would be a good price per chip for used ones?

The best place to find them is here in the classifieds. Do some research and look around. If you see some chips for sale that you like you can usually search past classifieds listings and see what they have sold for in the past and figure out a reasonable price. My advice would be to take your time and do some research before buying.

Sounds like sound advice. Just need to get more familiar with this site to figure out how to find stuff. Always open to good advice

Are there any tables you all recommend? Looking for about 6 people. Generally would like something nicer with some cushioning

Casino de Isthmus? Very nice. The 1998 version is best, followed by 2005 version and then BCC version. Priced accordingly.
Is there a way to visually tell the difference?

I have seen a bunch for sale but I am not sure which ones I am looking at.

Thanks for your help on this

Use the search function filtered on the classified section. Search by WTHC or world top hat. It will give you a better sense of past prices. Oh and get samples first.

Yes, the CDI98s have the THC (Top Hat and Cane) mold design. They CDI2005s have the Paulson House mold design (PAULSON CHIPS and hat/cane repeated). The BCCs have their Flame mold (a little thing that might look like a campfire or a scallop shell). They also have variations in their edge spot patterns, with CDI98 and BCC being similar while CDI2005 different (and more uniform).

As far as cost, they cost a lot. I think there is a good BBC set at a reasonable price in Classifieds right now. There are some large sets on eBay which are generously inflated. If you can get a CDI98 set at $2.25 per chip or less, you're doing well.

Welcome. Plan on spending $2-3 per chip for Paulsons. More rare Paulsons can go for more and often do. The Horseshoes seem to be more readily available and may be your best bet right now. Price varies depending on condition and denominations.

Good luck.

Yes, they are 39mm diameter and will fit on standard racks. I would contact @Apache or @ABC Gifts and Awards to get new racks if you need them in bulk. I think for these types of chips it is better to have Paulson or Chipco racks rather than more generic ones on the internet.

Just ordered 15 of them from Apache... they have new ones apparently. I got the 24010.... that’s the one I want correct??

Get these ;)

Are you looking for chips for a cash game or for tournaments? As a tournament only player I believe we are at a disadvantage when it comes to finding chips in the denoms we need (in my case 25-100-500-1000-5000 and up) without having to go the custom route or relabeling existing chips or pay crazy prices since the higher denoms are more limited quantities.
