Should the label be bigger or stay at 23.8mm

As much as I would like to see a larger label, I wonder with the less surface area of the ceramic, will translate to slipperier stacks?
That's why I always will vote for a smaller inlay/label on chips. Greater clay/material surface area will always result in better handling and less slickness.

My first thought as well. I would say keep it at 23.8 for 39mm and give another 43mm option with 27.9mm. Another size would just cause more confusion with little added benefit. I understand the thought but I don't think the juice is worth the squeeze. My .02 cents. Good luck on your next mold Sean.

EDIT TO ADD: Can someone show me an example where the extra 1.2mm makes a difference and gives you the ability to do something you couldn't.

Or show the difference of the 2 different sizes with the same inlay? That would really illustrate what the difference would be between sizes.

Voted for the bigger labels. The samples I had before ordering my customs were apparently larger labels than what I actually purchased through the group buy. Thankfully, my design printed great and I'm thrilled with the results. But if I could have had the larger labels with everything else remaining the same (web mold and 39mm chips with custom spots via the great @Cratty), I absolutely would have gone that route. Enhanced visibility is a huge priority. Thanks for pondering the option!

I'm going to abstain, tbh I don't know which would be better. I also imagine it will depend somewhat on the new mold (I can't imagine web mold any smaller given the ring at the top and the bottom).

Hoping palm mold makes a comeback. Wave would be cool also. A star line mold using the AS / ES logo would also be dope.

Seems likely.

Who remembers when PCFers discovered the Sunfly ceramic hybrids? There was strong sentiment here that the 43mm hybrids with the smaller recess felt surprisingly better. There was a fair amount of discussions, and theorizing as to why, but it seemed as close to a consensus as you’ll find on PCF. I believe the same holds true for these Tina’s. The 43mm Greek hybrids with the smaller recess sound and feel remarkable. And I think (though I can’t prove it) it’s all about the greater ceramic surface area.

Of course, there’s a newer generation of chippers now, and if they want larger labels for their artwork, that’s up to them.

I saw the calculation somewhere but I believe greek and jester 43mm should have the most contact area and be the least slippery. I just ordered 43mm jesters and I would have mucj preferred the smaller label, but I'm not huge on the greek mold so it was the 2nd best option. I think sun had the least contact area and therefore is most prone to spinners.

I think the idea is to have options. We already have a number of hybrid chips with the 23.8mm inlay size. But the only 39mm hybrids with the 25mm inlay are cap-dash, which is a proprietary chip, Tina H&C, which a lot of people hate, and no mold, which I think is probably also not too popular.

Some of us have inlay designs that are maybe a little more detailed than is ideal. For these designs, the bigger, the better. Even if only a mm or so bigger.

Personally, I love greek mold, but the 43mm greek mold with the tiny inlay area looks positively ridiculous and out of proportion.

This was my reasoning in the first place.

Yeah, it's noticeable on the chips with white inlays. Both chips in the middle right I can see it. I didn't realize there were others that are 25mm. I guess a reason for it would be to have a mold here at PCF on a 39mm chip that offers it. It's a bit give and take and some would likely be happy to have that option.

If we went with the larger inlay area, does the option for the current inlay size go away?

Yeah that's why it's "New"
The web mold was from a public poll and then so was the jester and the sun mold.

Look 5 posts above yours....
I saw those. for some reason they don't help me. Can't put my finger on why. Update...after giving it some thought, I think they don't help me because I cannot actually see the difference. This tells me I am indifferent to the bigger size.

It's pretty clear to me... especially the middle chips in both of Sean's pics. Oh well.
