Not allowed to ask these questions in a sales thread really. Because the answers aren’t really allowed.
Long story short, chips are worth what someone is willing to pay.
These chips were a personal nagb, which means the chips are not publicly available anywhere except likely through one or few people. Extremely personal and no reason to sell them for anything other than a sky high offer.
They are now being posted for sale by one of the few active chippers who publicly can afford something of this status, and they’re now being resold, likely at a similarish price as to what was originally paid for them.
If someone now buys them at that price point, it essentially becomes solidified history and will likely always be sold/resold at this price point, granting future potential buyers less risk.
The bigger issue at play is that these almost never receive a public “dibs!”, and will likely be sold via pm, so there won’t be any public access as to what the actual sales number is. So when they come up again in 2 years from the new buyer at $15k, potential buyers won’t actually know what the real perceived value is.
Long story short, highly personalized chips direct from Paulson with almost 0 public availability. It’s a very specific subset of chippers that can afford these, and even smaller that would purchase someone’s personal set with their pet on it, but for those that would, this is one of extraordinarily few chances (if any others ever again) at getting these.
