I'm wondering what your guys' home games look like. We have a $20 buy in and 10c/20c blinds. I feel it's a little small but everyone seems to like it. I imagine a lot of people have much higher home game stakes! Just curious, thanks!

We do typical cash games $100 buy ins with unlimited buy ins until it gets late than we usually cut it off. So usually the players are buying in anywhere from $100-$300 on average .

.25/.50 $50 buy-in is the perfect structure for a chill monthly home game imo.

I haven’t had to enforce it yet, but I would only let my players get in $150 deep if it came to that. Once they get more proficient and actually learn to play the game, maybe I’ll increase the ceiling.

25c/50c $100 Max; usually about 1500-2000 in total bank.
Sometime 25c/25c $50 Max
Sometime 5c/10c $20 Max

Rebuy up to half of biggest.

We play either 0.25/0.50 with max $100 buyin or 0.50/1.00 with a $200 buyin. Most people buyin for the max.

Rebuys or top-ups to the size of the biggest stack or 200bb, whichever is more.

My twice-monthly game is 2/5 NLHE. Min buyin $300, max $1K, or half the biggest stack if larger.

Most buyins are in the $400-$700 range but a few opt for the max.

We have a (tipped) dealer, food/drink, and no rake on regular hands.

There are however strictly optional $25 bomb pots whenever the previous flop was monotone, from which $25 is reserved until the food/drink are paid for, usually five bomb pots suffice.

Anyone who wants to play 100% free does not have to tip the dealer or play the bomb pots.

With the dealer seated I prefer to play 8-handed, which makes for a better game. Very occasionally we’ll squeeze 9 in plus the dealer, but I’d almost rather play 7- or 6-handed than 9.

Note that it did not start out this high. I am the fourth host of this game, which began about 15 years ago as a $35 two-table tournament.

The tourney stakes slowly escalated up to $150 just before the pandemic. Some would play 1/2 cash after but not all.

Post-pandemic I restarted the game as a 2/5 cash only one-table game per above. I didn’t want 18 people in one room, and the cash players still interested all wanted to play higher.

My weekly game is $1/$2 blinds, $300 max buy. People usually buy in for $200 instead of $300, but lots of action and a typical night will have $4k on the table.

My type of game !!! lol I love when big money is on the table. How do your games flow when the pots start to get bigger in regards to the competitive atmosphere. Does it intensify at the table or the mood stays the same through out ?

My monthly game is .25/.50 $50 max buy in. Cap people off at 200 a night. Usually only 1 or 2 go in for all 200. Usually probably 800 to 1k total on the table.

Gonna add in an occasional “high rollers” night at 1/2 this year. I think a few of the guys will like that but if we increased it to that much on the regular we would lose a lot of guys I think.

Weekly = Spread limit $0.50 - $5.00. Buy in size not relevant. Only three-ring circus games.

Monthly, $1-$2 NL Hold'em Match the big stack. We burn through players pretty fast in this game.

.25/.50, $100 max, half the deep stack rebuys, dealers choice. A few pictures from a 13 player game on Saturday.

.25 / .50 - $50. 8 handed. Rebuy to 1/2 the Big Stack.

Nothing to crazy, most in for $100, smaller pool will go $150-$250 as needed.

Few $2 Bomb Pots, and Chuck Pots throughout the night.

Typical home cash stakes in my area:

0.05/0.10 or 0.10/0.20 circus games, $40 buy-in and reload
0.25/0.25 or 0.25/0.50, $50 buy-in and reload, usually NLHE with some Pineapple Games and Omaha Hi only mixed in
1/2 $200 buy-in, reload up to $500 at a time, strictly NLHE

We've never done match-the-stack or half-stack.

Weekly cash game is a $5 dealer ante with no blinds. Dealers choice but it is primarily pot limit Omaha, Big O, Stud and draw and variations thereon. Max buyin is $200 but if you go broke, you can rebuy for $300, then $400 and so on. It's a lively group.

.50/1 blinds, with the 7/2 game and .50/1/1 after a certain time. This ends up with some putting in 3-4 hundred dollars.

I recently switched from a .25/.50 $100 max with match half the big stack to a .25/.50/1 $200 max

Game runs better and removing the half Th big stack has been good.

$1/$2, $200 buyin, NLHE. I prefer 8 max but will get 9 and 10 some games (I hate to not include folks that want to play and we normally have 1-2 that won’t rebuy more than once so after a couple hours we get some people that leave). It’s a monthly game, depending on who plays, will end up with ~$3K - $3.5K on the table but it’s been as high as $5K. It’s the same mix of 10-12 players, mostly friends outside of the game but a couple that are acquainted just thru the game.

We usually run 10c/20c with a 20€ buyin and we have it capped at 40€. You can refill up to 40€ until it gets late.

Its friends and friends of friends only and we just want to have a good time playing. The winnings are fun and big enough so its not meaningless but we dont kill each other for money.

Overall its a fun social event, if we wanna play for "big money", we would rather go to an official place.

Here is an older pic with some of our cashset chips, it kept growing since 2012, in highschool we started out with only 10c and 20c because we were broke af  :ROFLMAO:

Going into year five playing in a weekly $1/$2 NLHE game. $100 to $300 max. buy-in, $500 rebuys allowed at the midway point up until this past September, at which time a couple of players who posess a certain amount of gravitas with the host successfully partitioned him to raise the min/max buy-in amount by $100 to $200 - $400. Players can now rebuy in for $500 from the go.

I thought the change may be detrimental to the health of the game. To date, my concern has gone unfounded.

Poker is a lot like eggs. No matter how much you raise the price, people are still going to buy.
