Not sure if you’re serious about the asking questions part, but sure why not?

Are you still able to sign on and see PMs and stuff, and you’re just not able to post (or respond to PMs) when you’re banned, or are you completely cut off?

How did you get off the ban(s) and how did you find out? Were you able to petition your case with mods?

You can’t login at all.

I talked to the one of the mods at a meetup after a couple years and basically promised to be a complete dickhead only in the Politics forum.

In my experience, the mods give you about 5,250 warnings before actually banning you. It’s not like they wake up and say “well, this is rather rubbish” and ban you with no warning.

Also, none of the mods are British AFAIK, so they wouldn’t say things like “rather rubbish”.
 
Also, it’s abundantly clear why you’re about to be banned. They say things like “hey, if you do X again, we’re going to be forced to ban you”.

Also, in my experience anyway, I had between 4 and 12,449 temporary bans as a warning.

Disclaimer: I never did X. If I did, the mods probably wouldn’t care. Y and Z on the other hand - that’s an entirely different story.

Yeah he said he’s safe and sound. Chips are good as well. I don’t think he has an active address, but if there is one I’ll let y’all know because he said they have no way to get cash so once I get one I’m gonna send him a few things he mentioned needing.

Thanks for answering. It’s interesting because even after the ban, I saw Barrie’s account “Last seen” date change so I thought maybe banned members could still log in but just couldn’t interact at all.

That’s why that “closely guarded secret” comment is weird. The mods have always had a clear policy of not discussing bannings or the reasons therefore. So as far as I know, the reasons for all banning are closely guarded secrets.
Except for @jpietrella of course. Ritz on!
 
@CraigT78 may be thinking when we asked that we be contacted via PM if you had an issue with myself or a moderator.

I never held out any hope in getting anything from him. He’s never been fond of me for reasons passing understanding.

Agreed, it doesn't reflect in the current TOS. I believe that it use to be against the TOS, this might be where @CraigT78, myself & others were confused. This was quoted by staff as being part of the TOS back in 2021: 'We DO NOT permit public discussion relating to site moderation'

Hey @Tommy i was looking for those rules recently and couldn’t find them anywhere. I’m using safari on an iPhone if that matters.
Now that you’ve linked them, I see they’re under “help” but I can’t find help anywhere. It’s entirely possible that I’m a dummy, but I definitely spent a couple minutes searching and couldn’t find them.
