This was true for me as well until last year.... one of the first post-covid home games to pop up in San Jose took a rake. They didn't communicate that to any of the players beforehand, but when we arrived they offered us lots of free drink and free food.... and also took $2-$3 off every pot! I think I played for about an hour before excusing myself.
