Canceled PCA Secondary Cash Set (2 Viewers)

Hey all,

Happy Labor Day!

I'm listing my beloved PCA set for sale. Never thought I'd do this, but I'm just not hosting games like I want. Having these beauties just sit on the shelf is really a shame. Most of my crew does not appreciate any of the chips I bring to the table anyway. They are just as happy with card mold as these minty Paulson. Hoping that someone will do them justice and get them on the felt and enjoy and appreciate them.

As far as I know, only the 5s ( and not all of them ) have been in play exactly twice. The rest are mint and have never seen play. The $1s are a Jack Cincy replacement for the original RHC $1s. I was planning on murdering them and relabeling them but didn't (yet). If I wind up keeping this set, then I will move forward with that plan. If someone wants this set and want to go that route with the $1s, I can still murder them for you ( I'm sure we can work out a deal with that ). The pic of the $1 ( see below ) is just a label over the existing inlay, just to see how it would look. ( and I think it looks awesome ). No I don't have enough gear labels to do the full set. I just had some spares from when I was using CDI $1s as my first replacement THC $1s. I'll include whatever spares I have if you want. The blue CDI chip looked great, but changed the feel of the set overall so I found a minty white $1 instead. IMHO the white $1 looks 100% better and maintains that classic PCA look and feel.

Breakdown:
$0.50 x 100
$1 x 300 ( Jack Cincy )
$5 x 300
$25 x 80
$100 x 20
2 dealer buttons and a deck of unopened PCA cards.
sample plaques ( they were part of a previous group buy - I just got a single sample of each )

Price: $8900

I'm not super motivated to sell these as anyone who knows me can attest to. I've gone back and forth a dozen plus times on this. I love owning these chips, as they were my first Paulsons so they hold a special place in my heart and are responsible for my chip snobbiness obsession towards THCs. But figured I'd put them out there and see if there are any takers. If they don't sell, I'm not going to be upset at all. I'll probably be more upset if they do sell. So I priced them accordingly.

And speaking of selling, here are the rules. Yup, my chips so there are rules...

1. No splitting - don't ask. I'm not interested. Not even a little. It's all or nothing.
2. This is NOT a dibs sale. I'll decide if and who I sell them to. I don't expect multiple people clamoring to buy, but if that does happen, I'll decide, with whatever criteria I see fit, on who to sell to.
3. Might consider trades, with or without cash on either side, but the set in trade has to be one of equal or greater caliber, desirability and prestige.
4. Asshats need to apply - you are not getting my chips for any price.
5. I would ask for, but not require, FROR if you ever decide to sell them in the future. I'll probably not be able to afford them, but would like the opportunity to try.
6. Any other rule I see fit to implement. Like I said, my chips, I'll decide what happens to them. Sorry this comes across as a bit dickish, but it's how I feel.

Shipping:
It's included for CONUS. Extra insurance is on the buyer if they want it.
If they sell internationally, I'll cover up to what it would cost to ship domestically - any additional is on the buyer.

Payment:
Prefer PayPal Friends and Family.
If you prefer PayPal Good and Services, add appropriate % and any fees We'll figure out what that is if we get to that point.
Other payment options can be discussed as well.

Other:
Paulson chip racks not included, but we can talk if you want them - may effect shipping???

And now for what you have all been waiting for, the pics. Additional available upon request.

Thanks for looking.

This is not a thread crap, and I really do hope it doesn't come across that way.

I'm having trouble understanding where $8900 comes from in terms of per rack pricing. Could you break down what this would look like in terms of per rack price? I've owned a lot of these chips over the years and curious on what the current rack pricing looks like on these chips

Fair question I guess. Well, I don't really have a per chip/per rack price. I kinda know what recent sales went for, started there then decided how much above that I would need to get to make me sell. I didn't price these to quickly sell as much as price to make me let them go. That and as was stated above, this is a turn key complete grail set that will satisfy most any cash game most of us will ever play. That convenience also comes with a premium in my eyes. So are they above individual market price? Yup. Can you put this same set together in the next 9-12 months? Doubtful.

How much above market would you sell your favorite set for?

Not likely to part with my favorite(s) but it's a good question and not sure I have an answer for that one.

And thank you for clarifying, I really just wanted to know what these chips are currently selling for per rack which is why I asked

Depends on your intent. Release desired chips back into the community that arent seeing any play or PR0F1T$? Given the current state of the hobby I'd say its generally a mixture of both for most people.

Markets move in both directions. Currently chip prices seem to be moving upwards. So to answer your original question id would say 10% above what ever the market is it at the time. If you are wanting FROR Id be inclined to sell them to someone you know and trust at a price you can afford in the future if you want to buy them back someday. Like the good ol'days.

There are no right or wrong answers just 2021 chipper dilemas.

GLWS.

I WHOLLY feel your reasoning!!!! I am struggling with the same issue on my first and favorite set of all time... Pictures all ready to go etc.... It doesn't get the play and its years of hoarding! Others are trying to build it and mine sits! If I actually pull the trigger I'm sure ill hear the same type of comments! It'll prolly happen tonight or never one of the 2!! GLWS!!! I hope you have to keep it or get what your asking!

Dibs!

Some people value sets more than the sum of the pieces - it cuts down on work, especially for chips that are hard to find. If OP still has the pca 1s I think that would probably make it more appealing for would-be buyers. It’s hard to find any of this stuff.
Agree. As much as a set price can get a discount, a full set can also demand a premium. If it’s exactly what the buyer wants, it saves a ton of time and work.

maybe we should just swap sets? ;) whatcha got?

5s are also very hard to find. Maybe they sell around $5 a chip when they pop up once in a blue moon but let’s be realistic if you wanted to put together a PCA set it would take many, many hours of trying to track them down piece by piece.
Or Windwalker about an hour.

I think we can all relate to this question. Theoretically, I’d say no amount if we’re talking an outright sale, but I suppose everyone has a price.

I think, for me, when it comes to “grail” sets, I’d be much more inclined to trade rare sets for other rare chips/sets.

Unreasonable
Chip values still come
Into play.

$5/chip is what they used to sell for before things got crazy around here…as for right now, no idea, they just don’t pop up, ever.

@arch3r awesome set man! GLWS!

Re: $5/chip …

Hope I don’t regret this, but here’s a reference point: I paid (at least) twice that for $5/25/100s ~3 months ago and the sales ad had backup interest plus several chippers in my DMs pressing me hard for spare $5/25/100s … not to mention the prior run on them that had already steeled most owners’ resolve not to sell.

I’ll save the suppositions for the masses, but putting new Jack $1s @ a consistent $4-5/chip (unleaded, unshaped, un-storied), each remaining rack is currently priced at ~$1500. Snap buy? Doesn’t appear so, but put a WTB out for PCA $5/25/100s at, say, $10/chip and see how far you get. I’m confident that auctions for individual racks wouldn’t stop there.

I will add a personal bias that most of the demand for mint, leaded, shaped, storied casino chips (PCAs in particular) seem to be from those finishing their sets versus starting them, so no splits in this case may be a hindrance.

In any case, hopefully this is received as a genuine data point for those with honest questions and not seen as a slight on @arch3r’s sales thread.

GLWS. I know this is a grail set for many.

Are there people trying to complete PCA sets? Hmph.
