Windwalker’s Chipping Journey in Pr0n0grAph1C Detail (14 Viewers)

Since this is a thread I started to document my chipping journey, I thought I should also write a bit about what I've been learning about surrounding subjects, like storage.

I’ve been struggling with storage / transport of my main game chips, the 43MM Jacks, and the only 43MM carriers I was able to find were the few offered by Gene at @ABC Gifts and Awards a few weeks ago.

The next option was a normal carrier from @Apache or BR Poker with Matsui racks, but those racks are so delicate, a small amount of jiggling in the car will throw them off / have them break. Not great for transport. Fantastic for static storage, though.

So, I reached out to one of our manufacturers in China, and had this custom carrier made. Here’s an initial prototype, with a honeycomb interlocking rack system. I had them use a denser polymer for the racks to create more substance than the Matsuis, and they're sized to fit the 43MMs, but given the top cover, should be able to store 39MMs as well. I will have a couple of test carriers in a few days, will let you know how it turned out and post pictures!

Here is a picture of the prototype our Chinese manufacturer took and sent me.

The carriers are done, and here’s a look from China just before they were packaged to send to me. Fingers crossed!!

Just to illustrate a point made about 50 posts ago... Here is how much Rivers Casino in Schenectady values the design of their chips... This banner on the side of the building near the entrance is enormous. They have also used dice chips in TV ads.

Ugh. Most likely because they use a production company that doesn’t do actual photoshoots for their campaigns or keyart, but use stock imagery with low cost royalties. Terrible.

Back to my chipping journey through Pr0n. This is my first attempt to put a mixed leaded THC set together, and I’m not super happy with the results. The $5 definitely needs to be a 3d14 or similar, but I love the current chip. The hundo has possibly the right edgespot pattern, but is one fucking ugly chip.

The $25 would have been SUCH a better chip if the denom on the inlay were in white, not black, by the way. The green is too dark for a dark font.

Still need a $1000 candidate as well. Recommendations welcome. Need a new $5, $100 and a $1000.

I’m surprised you don’t find the homogeneous edge spot pattern of the Giraffes problematic. I see it as their major shortcoming.

I haven’t formed an opinion yet. I know some casinos have done that — homoegeny across all edge spots. I actually think the BTP tourneys do that too, yes?

The white $500s are absolutely HOT!

If you go with that Casino Aztar $100 and are no longer going with a Vegas-specific mixed set, I would say the Empress Joliet $1000 (primary or secondary) could be a good candidate based on what your tastes usually are (bright/vibrant). They're beautiful chips. Would usually say it is hard to get, but if anyone can find a way...

beautiful, love the colors, and that dollar is hot, but although mixed sets are each individuals interpretation , I just can't get behind a set with more than one example per casino, just to be truly mixed :)

Do you wonder what chips you will want a year from now?

At the pace you are acquiring sets are you able to appreciate any of them truly?

I am 42, an have been into poker chips since I was 21-22ish. I bought many sets and sold many too.

To somebody that has been in this game a long time it looks like the kid that has their parents fighting for their love by buying them the cool gift that year for Christmas.

I have owned many great sets over the last 20 years. I hope you are able to appreciate all the great sets you have come to own in such a short amount of time.

He’s certainly posing em. I want to see some stack Pr0n but might be tough to get games going in CA right now

Cajun Cup $5 or $25 could work

Some super hot chips in that lineup, but that's a lot of different colour inlays.
Yep -- totally agree. I had to see them in person together to figure that out, hence the general dissatisfaction with my choices. I'm going to build from the $1 and $500, love them both.

The $1s are easily the best casino $1s I 've ever seen.
Thank God we 're never gonna fight over $500s :D

I'm surprised you don't like the $5s. I had never seen them before this and they're awesome.
