Edit: Bar "56" in Athens has been all you could ever have needed from NYC, without the negative aspects.
It's been NY just like in the '50s.
Excellent Jazz, from dixieland to be-bop, and lots of Billie Holliday and Ella Fitzgerald, and and a great collection of rare Scotch and Bourbon, while fully smoking, regardless of whatever stupid legislation was floating around.
That bar has been a second home to me and the bartender (and owner) a fateful second therapist
