What plaques would you use for a T100 base STT set that maxes out at about 50k or 60k (without the plaques) starting stacks? T25k definitely seems large for a starting chip, as it'd make up 1/3 of your stack at T75k, but fine for re-buys and color ups. T20k is in a similar boat, but slightly easier to get in play. T10k seems like such a small jump from 5k but it'd be by far the easiest to put into play.

None of this I'd consider optimal, just looking for an excuse to add plaques to a set.

I'm in the same spot right now looking at designs for my plaque. I was thinking of doing 25K, but agree if you go 20K or less, you could more in play?

For reference this is the current setup:

For a T50k (Assuming you only color up 100 and 500, and only re-buy with T5k chips)

Adding 20x25k adds 10 buy-ins for a T50k, but that's kind of unnecessary because you don't need a dozen rebuys for a STT generally. If you move to a T75k and still don't color up the T1k chips you get more rebuys across the board.

Adding 20x20k adds 8 re-buys for a T50k. If you do a T60k with T20k plaques, you also get more re-buys. Change making seems similar, in the T75k you have 45k in T1k and T5k to make change for a T25k, in the T60k you have 35k in T1k and T5k. 45/25 is 1.8, 35/20 is 1.75. In both cases you might be better off doing as many buy-ins as possible without the plaque before introducing any.

If you do a T50k with T10k plaques you get this. Bumps the re-buy count, and you can easily drop two T5k from the starting stack for a T10k. Making change should be fairly easy as the T10k is so close to the T5k.

What have I learned? Plaques don't fit in my sets starting stacks and are best left for re-buys and color-ups. If I absolutely need plaques in play right away, T10k make the most sense but leave me sparse on re-buys unless I drop the starting stack to a T40k. T20k could also plausibly be used as re-buy and color up chips for a T40k tournament after T5k chips have been exhausted. A 400 chip set doesn't really need a fifth denomination.

I'm pretty sure I fucked up some excel math on this, but I think it's at most +- 1 rebuy.

A bounty Plaque could be an option and didnt affect the starting stacks.

My tournament setup is 60k using 15/5/11/9/0 and I give all rebuys as 0/0/0/2/2. 25ks work just fine for this. 20k would work too I suppose. I've never used a 50k chip or plaque I imagine it could work alright however it's getting large since the average player has only slightly more than this on the first rebuy so it might be tough to break it.

I'm leaning T25k plaques and using them for T50k rebuys, color ups, and add-ons. 10k and 20k just seem awkward.

1/3 of your starting stack should be fine, you'll have plenty of change. 75k for a T100 tourney is a massive chip stack. I'd go 15/7/15/6/1. Then for rebuys, I'd recommend 15x5k's or your 25k plaques.

Thinking maybe a T50k, with a single add-on/rebuy as part of the initial buy in. Get two T25k along with your starting stack, if you bust they're your re-buy. If you don't need to re-buy, they get added on to your stack after X levels.

I like the idea of using plaques only for color ups. It creates drama and progression in the tournament. Pure psychology.

If your starting stack is around 200-250BB, then I agree with plaques only for colour-up.
If you have a very deep stack 500-1000BB tourney, you will likely need plaques for your highest 2 denoms, and they will be part of starting stack. Then all plaques for colour-ups and rebuys.

I may be wrong, but I'm shooting for 200BB as a standard target...I would guess (but don't know) that if you get into 500+BB, then it could take a really long time unless you're doing some rapid doubling of blinds early on.

I'm actually interested in a wider spread (eg. 1000BB) but it felt a bit ridiculous. Anyone have experience here?

Looks like you pretty much figured it out: a larger T100-base set could utilize T25k plaques, but mostly just for big-stack/large-field re-buys and color-ups. Even larger denoms/plaques aren't needed for those applications, and 10k denominations just aren't practical.

T5000 plaques work well for T25- and T100-base sets. You really need to be using a T500-base (or larger) set to be able to adequately utilize T25k and T100k plaques in starting stacks.
