Hello,

I've been looking for a cash game set. I've seen the Majestic 500 count Paulsons for $375, and the Jumer's 500 count for $750. Are either or both of these sets worth it? Are the Jumer's worth the price jump over the Majestics? It's clear from the photo and the description that the Majestic show quite a bit of use and the Jumer's look notably better. Or should I continue shopping/checking classifieds. I plan to end up with a few different sets at least.

Other sets that I've been looking at:

Dias de Los Muertos BR Pro Poker

and

Pharaoh's or Dunes from Apache.

I'm relatively new to forum. I've been a long time player of poker but never really got into chipping so I've been learning what I can regarding the different chip types, and what can be expected as far as price difference. I'd probably like to have a CC set, a Ceramic Set, and a THC set for starters.

Classifieds and chiproom sales here for mint chips at 1$/chip when u get lucky.

I personally wouldn't want to pay a buck-fifty apiece for the casino used RHC Jumers.
The Majestics are probably the better deal even more used at half the price. But I personally wouldn't want to spend any amount of money for chips that worn.
I realize this isn't at all helpful. But I would suggest you get samples and see how you like those chips in those conditions.

Thanks for the input. I have a sample set of the Majestics but not the Jumers. The Majestic wear is particularly noticeable on the darker colors of the $25 and $100 chips. They feel nice though- and there would obviously be no concerns regarding felting them as they are already worn. I'm going to continue to keep an eye on Classifieds also. If anyone sees any listings that might be appropriate for me- feel free to send me over the information.

Both are RHC molds and the more worn they become the worse they feel. I think everyone can agree on that so Majestics are a hard pass for me. I have a large set of Jumers but they are brand new never used. Some people hate the name (theres alot of strange casino names that other people like so why people despise the word Jumers is beyond me) but people vary wildly on that kind of thing so that's up to you personally. I also like the chip colors so for the price i paid for brand new Paulsons it was an easy choice for me. It's an understandable question but it tells me that you should probably stick around and look a bit more before leaping. Good luck!

I have several hundred Jumers, mostly secondary, and their colors at among the best, IMO. Being secondary chips they don't suffer from being worn from casino use. I hate their name, but, they're going to be a relabel project, so, not so concerned with the label... just wanted for the colors.

The Majestic have a lot of brass in them, at least the ones I own. I like them, but, would take the Jumer's any day over them.

I HATE the name Jumers, but, I'd lay you 2-1 that most people that will play at your game won't notice the label.

Saying all that, if you watch the classifieds for a bit you should be able to put together a set of your own...may cost a bit more than $750, but you can end up with mintish chips. Some casino used can be pretty bad, severely rounded edge (bike tires) and ate up with flea bites (small bits missing around the edges, so, proceed with caution. Good luck!
