Good evening everyone. I've slowly built max $10 buy-in home cash games to a multiple $25 buy-in. I have about 100- $5 chips in my Pharaohs set. I haven't had an issue with my chip set running low causing people to play tighter with small amounts of workhorse chips or anything like that. To get to the point, as the game's buy-in continues to grow and as people start to have multiple bullets ready to go, at what point do I start using the $25 denom chip in?? Is having $100 in your chip stack the threshold to justify giving them a $25 denom, or is the threshold higher than that? Idk. Maybe I can keep giving them $5 chips. What do yall think?

Eh, justifying is silly, we all have our reasoning. I'd prefer having more $5s in barrels but 100 is pretty tight, just use the 25s whenever you need them. Not hurting anyone and its more efficient.

Personally, I'd hand out the $5s and break into the $25s when you've exhausted them, there can be change made at the table.

Get all your 1’s and 5’s in play, then go to the 25’s. My one exception, is late in the game, I’ll get a handful 25’s in play, but only because they’re awesome and look great on top of stacks. But this is for a fairly big .25/.50 game with $100 buy-ins.

I think generally the upper limit "needed" for a chip is about a barrel per player, before you can just move on to the next chip. Your lowest denomination you'll often use less of, say 10 per player, as they're primarily for covering blinds.

At $25 buy-ins, I'd put in every $1 chip and every $5 chip you have in play before touching the $25s.

This makes sense thank you!

They are from the closed National Casino in Calgary. While they are all the THC mold, as far as I can tell, the $1's and $5's are Christy & Jones (C&J), and the $25's and 50¢ chips are Paulson. I use the starburst Paulson chips as quarters.

My game is usually 9/10 players playing 50c/50c with $100 BIs and is quite splashy.

We get the $20/$25s in play when we have 1200 on the table (1x rack of 25c, 2x racks of $1, and 2x racks of $5).

Usually once I have used up a barrel of $20/25, I will alternate any additional buy ins with either a $100 or using $20/$25s.

I tend to give out chips where I don't ever hand anyone more than about one barrel of any one color. In the 1/3 game I play, it's 15 whites (20 is too many whites), 17 reds, and the rest in green. Rebuys are much easier when you can just hand out a small stack of chips and have players change out at the table. Cashing out is much simpler, too.

Some prefer to be surrounded by mounds and mounds of chips. I'm not that guy. You do what you like best.

I almost never put 25s in play unless a player asks. But I also have 8 racks of fives.

Still if a player gets to like 80-100 chips in fives, I would offer to color up 2-3 barrels.

I have never felted a 100 chip since getting my customs 4 years ago.

If you only have 100 fives in your set, get them all in play before thinking about higher chips. You probably really need 200-300 more, some pcfers will tell you 500 more :). #MoarFives
