I like the bishop. Do you do a lot of interesting woodwork like that?
Yep. I have made all kinds of furniture over the years - cherry and walnut arẻ my favorite woods to work with.
I've made a coffee table, bookcases, stereo equipment stand, king-size bed frame, poker table (of course), poker chip case, golf ball clock, to name a few.
The headpieces are finally coming together!

After todays game I think I am going to scour the local classifieds for computer chairs... rolling on the hard surface is awesome, and comfy as heck. Those on the folding chairs definitely got screwed lol

It's a local woodworking club that I belong to. I'm just a hobbyist; poker and woodworking are my two favorite activities.
The fleur-de-lis was was cut on a CNC machine; pattern supplied by @T_Chan. I had to join a makers group to access the CNC machine, but I got some valuable experience operating it.
Back to work on the chairs now. I had a side project for @chkmte that will work out for him, hopefully.
One of the pieces had a flaw; instead of repairing it, I think I'll rout out the area with a box bit.
I'm making 10 of these, that'so why it's taking so long.

I picked up 7 second hand office chairs for a total of $100 today ($75 usd) for the poker table, now everyone gets a comfy rolling chair

Great work! Those are going to be some super classy chairs!
This jig sets the front of the top piece flush to the sides. The top piece is secured to the chair using dowels; centers are located in the top piece with these pins.
Once the piece is positioned properly, I tap it with a hammer to fix the centers of the dowel holes to be drilled in it.
Then the sides are scored with a chisel to fix their correct dimensions.
The sides are trimmed using a Dubby. The piece is ready to be attached.

Great final product, awesome work your craftsmanship is truly a lost art. That being said, that first picture of the original chair made me want to say Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice!

And I've heard that magic doesn't exist. Yeah, right!
I wanted to eliminate the square edges. It took a while to figure out how to fabricate the curved pieces. I drilled out a 5/8" hole in wood, then cut around it with a bandsaw and sanded the sides square. Then I sawed and chiseled the piece into four pieces and used the best ones.
Here's how the chairs now look.
The last thing to do is make the pieces to attach the seats to the frame.

No words. It's amazing you could see the outcome from where you started. I would have been fist pump done after I got them out of my truck.
All ten chairs have been oiled and waxed now. The final step is to attach the seats.
Because the holes in the frame don't match up due to the seat padding, I had to modify the frames.
Here are the fully assembled red and blue chairs.

If/when I become a school principal, I'm bringing back shop class for sure. These skills and this art should be prevalent, not lost or even missing...
