I've read through some of the previous threads on the best chip racks for mint Paulsons and it seems that the PGI Chipco racks are the most recommended, followed by the 66.7mm and 67.7mm racks from Spinetti's (although shipping is apparently steep).

But I'm also curious about the following two PCF vendors...

Apache refers to these as Chipco racks and describe them as the smallest racks they own and best for Paulsons. Are these the same Chipco racks that PGI carries?

OWPS refers to these as slightly smaller than 68mm and indicate that Paulson chips fit perfectly. Has anyone purchased these from OWPS and if so, how do they fit Paulsons?

Thanks,

The best racks for Paulson chips are Paulson racks. You may be able to find them online, but they are usually more expensive. Alternatively, you can take them out of a casino pretty easily.

PGI bought the chipco assets a few years ago and sold off the remaining chipco racks. I think they build a new mold branded as Palm Gaming, but the racks were the same size. These are much cheaper than Paulson and work very well with mint Paulson chips.

The 66.7 racks fit the Paulson chips, but often elevate the two chips on the end to sit higher than all the others in the barrel.

Hope that helps

Thanks. Are you indicating that the new PGI Chipco racks are the 66.7mm that elevate the end chips?

Genuine Paul-Son branded racks are much more expensive than any alternative, if you can find them at all. Unless you steal them from a casino, of course -- assuming one lives anywhere near a casino that a) uses Paul-Son chips, and b) uses genuine Paul-Son racks.

PGI has (or had) two different acrylic branded racks that fit Paul-Son chips pretty well:

The first (branded "Palm Gaming" in the center barrel) creates a mild rocking action when stacked due to the raised lettering in the center barrel, but otherwise work fine -- especially if not stacked.

The second (branded "Chipco" in the second barrel) is an acrylic clone of the genuine Chipco rack, and those work very well with Paul-Son and most ceramic chips, and are stable when stacked.

Both PGI-produced racks were made in China and were made available at various times to CT/PCF forum members at very reasonable prices -- typically 1/2 to 1/3 the cost of genuine Paul-Son racks.

I have no experience with Apache's 'Chipco' racks, and do not know if they are original Chipco racks (slightly cloudy and flexible) or are the PGI-produced clear acrylic Chipco-branded clones, or something else altogether.

The listed OWPS racks are 68mm, and will typically fit most ASM/CPC chips, but are too wide to properly fit Paul-Son or most ceramic chips imo.

I ordered 14 of the PGI Chipco racks from Joe yesterday ($2 each). He claims they're 66.7mm in the invoice. Once I receive them, I'll post a review with some pics.

How did you order? I'm in the market for a bunch. Paulsons fit great in them :)

I simply emailed Joe at sales@palmimports.com to inquire.

He gave me the cost per rack ($2) and the shipping cost ($18 for mfrb for up to 15 racks, $24 for lfrb for up to 20 racks).

Payed him via PayPal F&F and sent mailing address to him via email.

He was very responsive.

Waiting for them to ship.

I have dozens of the PGI chipco racks. They are great and I use them for Paulsons, BCCs and TRKs without any issue.

Original ChipCo racks weren't rigid plastic. They were opaque (slightly milky) and actually flexible. They're not as tight as 66.7mm racks so you'll have a bit of give to your casino paulsons. Personally I've always used 66.7mm racks for casino paulsons because they fit better, but stacking them when they're that precise can be an issue.

I'd love to see pics on what PGI is selling. I'm not doubting but I used to have a huge box full of chipcos and decided to sell all of them sometime back in 2011, and I sort of regret it. If they're selling something similar then I'd be interested in picking some up.

I have both old, slightly cloudy and rubbery Chipco racks and the new material PGI produced Chipco racks. What Joe from Palm explained (back on CT) at the time Palm acquired some of the Chipco assets, including the mold for these racks, was that the material for the old Chipco racks had to be ordered in a large quantity, way more than Palm could commit to based on their needs. So Palm sourced a new material that results in much clearer, but more rigid racks. I like both styles and use them for TRK, BCC, and Paulson chips. Palm also has the 43mm Chipco racks which I can confirm are perfect for the Horseshoe oversized chips.

TLDR: The mold is the same as Chipco used, the material was changed. Still the best rack available that doesn't involve "borrowing" Paulson racks from a casino.

Ah good to know. There's another thread where this is being discussed, and I was wondering about that. Sounds like the question has been answered!
