Saw this absurd result on Twitter just now to the abject shame of all Pennsylvanians.

Apart from casino access and proximity to certain restaurants, BY FAR the worst things about leaving NJ for GA was leaving Wawa behind. Bundle the not pumping your own gas with Wawa's food/drink selection and it's a big loss. Even removing the gas pumping since that's a statewide thing, there's no place that compares to Wawa.

Johnny Knoxville knows what's up:

Morons down here try to tell me to hit Quiktrip or Racetrac, but they don't know what they fuck they're talking about. Is there any 24-hour (or late night) convenience store mecca anywhere in the US that can challenge Wawa?

Fuck that noise. Wawa all the way. Only place where you can get an awesome sandwich when you are banged up at 2:30am, then get in a fight on the way to your car.

I'm sure @Pokerdweebz will comment for the Amish bumpkin constituency and argue Sheetz, but I'm not having that. Let's let @Tommy weigh in on this one.

Sheetz for me, but, we don't have any near by. All we have is Royal Farms, and I'm not a fan. They say their Fried Chicken is awesome, but I don't like fried chicken either
Blast away

Some solid "wawa fight" results on youtube, but I'm pretty sure this is the one Dan is thinking of.

Another good shorty:

My main objection to Sheetz is that Zs shouldn't even be considered letters. They're awful.

for sandwich hot dogs
We used to leave my parents house on Christmas Day, and there was a sheetz at the end of their road. We would always get our free coffee and 2 chili cheese dogs. It's not the best chili, but it coats the stomach so well.

So, sheetz = free coffee on Christmas Day and damn good chili cheese dogs which makes them better than all of the rest

QuikTrip, especially the newer or remodeled QT Kitchen versions. Great company to work for, and very smart about how they choose locations.

No experience with Wawa or Sheetz, but I'm not inclined to patronize stores named after a baby's cry or droppings.

Wawa has a free coffee day also but it's not tied to a pagan holiday.

Wawa is named after Native American word for goose, so I guess in that way it does have some kind of pagan connection.

QT > Circle K >>>> AM/PM >> 7-Eleven

Honestly my biggest problem with QT is that the location most convenient for me doesn't have cold creamer, just those godawful room temperature tiny containers.

Preferred? Whichever is most convenient...you know...cuz it's a convenience store.

I honestly didn't know there was such loyalty to specific chains/brands.

Wawa means "wild goose", which is also a slang term for a penis.

Plaid Pantry is the place for beer, smokes, etc. in Oregon. We still have designated liquor stores here. 7-11 has a pretty strong presence too.

Manager at Wawa once spilled coffee on me and gave me free coffee every time he rang me up after that. I saved literally hundreds over the years.

Plaid Pantry sounds extremely Oregon.

7-Eleven. I practically lived there when I was traveling through Thailand. So many times I would walk out of a 7-11 with my iced coffee, banana milk or beer, and I'd look left and see a 7-11 and then right and see another 7-11.
Trivia of the day: There are more 7-Elevens in Thailand than in the U.S. Straight up, not per capita.

When I lived in PA Sheetz was the only thing in town. It was alright. Had a bit of everything. Nothing that was "great".

Growing up I frequented a small convenience store called Beehive. Walked by it every day on our way home from middle school. We would save our lunch money. Buy a pop, bag of chips, and play Galaga before heading home. That is when you could get a coke for .30. Glass 10 ounce bottle I believe.

You guys are missing out if you've never stopped at a Buc-ee's (except the po-dunk one in Giddings). Put it down for your next Texas road trip.

If you weren't always doing things half-assedly, you'd have blown right through Georgia on 95 and come all the way to Florida, where we have both casinos and Wawas up the ying-yang.

Not to mention Publix grocery stores, where you can buy $50 Wawa cards for $40 one weekend every month.

That is one very big positive in the GA vs. NJ store wars: Publix.

Lightweights. Our nearest Wawa's only been open a few months, and we've already had a guy blown away there, just last week.

I heard it was over the last sour cream donut in the case, but I suppose it could have been a heroin deal...

Wawa has gone down in recent years. Gas was a good idea, but they screwed the pooch because they didn't pay attention to the card fees. Once their accounting group figured out they lost a crap load in fees, by basically giving gas away, they had to do something. $15MM first year I believe.

Serving sizes went down, convenience item prices went up, etc. Customers felt betrayed. I think the Sheetz being on top is accurate, it's just most folks still know Wawa more.

In the areas where Sheetz operates they have set the bar and their employees are among the happiest in the industry - pay attention employers, there's a connection there...

Wawa went to FL and killed it. Their first 10 stores there became their top 10 grossing stores. I believe, in part, due to FL folks not knowing what Wawa was (so they wouldn't notice a decline in offering), and because there really isn't anyone doing anything close FL. Can no one in FL bake a roll for Christ sake!! Someone actually told me the water in FL prevents the dough from rising correctly. Dunno

Companies like Sunoco and Stripes are ramping up efforts, with elaborate grill programs, Loredo Taco, etc. Some of those Sunoco Aplus grills sites, such as in SC, are doing very well. The challenge they have is that they were gas stations first, so the site sqf varies and it's hard to have a consistent offering.

Wawa will hold its own and we frequent there, but mostly for coffee, milk, etc. I'm just no longer a fan of their food.

Are there still any Harry's Farmers Markets around Atlanta, or have they all been replaced by Whole Foods?? The original Harry's was the best supermarket I have ever seen, period.

It was also the one in which Alton Brown used to shoot so many of his early-year shows...

I'm a Wawa guy. Wawa coffee is the best around - Sheetz coffee sucks. I prefer to not get food from a gas station.
