I'm loving the Cleveland HS set I am piecing together (for small ~8 person tourneys for now). However, at the moment I can't justify spending >$15/chip for 1k/5k denoms to complete the set. Also, not crazy about the larger 43mm chips for those denoms.

I know this is kind of "bush league" so don't make fun- but anyone ever use some $1/$5 chips as $1k/$5k instead to save money?

FYI - I even went so far as to just straight up purchase x100 $1 chips from the existing Jack Casino in Cleveland for this purpose. But even after cleaning them all individually with magic eraser, they still look crummy from all the flea bites! Plus the colors are kind of ugly....anyways, I highly value your input, let me know what you think!

I don't play tournaments anymore but when I did years ago I always did face value just like how the WSOP did. They did $10K buyin for 10K NCV chips (but for some reason they felt they needed to change that to 30K. Stupid)

Anyways my tournament set is face value. You buy in for $200 and receive 200 NCV

Oh those are beauties....could you recommend a good website/tool to calculate tourney blinds based on players and hours?

No but this is how I did mine in case you are interested

between 1 - 2 Hour Levels (yes, I hate turbos)
$200 = 200 NCV

Lvl 1 - 0.25 / 0.50
Lvl 2 - 0.50 / 1.00
Lvl 3 - 0.75 / 1.50
Lvl 4 - 1.00 / 2.00
Lvl 5 - 2.00 / 4.00
Lvl 6 - 3.00 / 6.00
Lvl 7 - 5.00 / 10.00
Lvl 8 - 8.00 / 16.00

etc.....

Depending on the occasion we sometimes spread the tournament out in two days.

I think if you did a relabel on these, it would look less "bush league."

Otherwise I think the suggestion of switching to base T5 and just acquiring fives is a good idea. Instead of T10K starting at 25-50, do T25 starting at 5-10 and it should be the same amount of play.

Get chips to work around 10/10/7/2 of T5/25/100/500 for however many players you need.

Whatever you base is, I always like to design levels around multiplying each chip by 2-4, 3-6, 4-8, 6-12, 8-16.

Hope this helps,

Thank you, and yes this helps...Can you recommend any companies that do a solid job on relabels?

Keep looking around this site. A lot of people have murdered chips (removed the existing label) and replaced it with a Gear label.

You are not in the minority here.
