WSOP ran out of normal starting stack chips for day 1C (1 Viewer)

My buddy is playing today. It was weird having light green ($25) and dark green ($25k) chips in play at the same time. I didn't know why they did it, but that makes sense now.

This graphic makes it look like there's some weird red 5k chip.

I guess that’s just be bad luck of the draw, when everybody bags their chips on day one, then gets shuffled to new tables on day two.
Why don’t they just yell for the floor and make a big stink?
JACK!!!

Excuse my ignorance, but what are the starting stacks, and opening blinds for the WSOP?

I've said it before...

The WSOP doesn't care about an optimal playing experience. They are selling you a dream.

For the accountants out there...
The WSOP pulled 3.3 million in rake from the Main Event alone. This does not count 1.4 million in additional rake from the Main Event for dealers and staff.

At what point does someone spin-off the WSOP into it's own profitable entity? There is no way that they are burning through 3.3 million in the 7 days of the main event when the staff is already being covered.

And that doesn't even take in to account the ESPN and PokerGo money...
...or Dollar Shave Club
...or Copag
...or DXR Acer
...or Blue Shark Optics
...or Poker Tax Specialists
...or RockStar energy drinks
...or Razer
...or 888 poker
...or Credit Karma

...or any of the dozens of booths in the hallways

...or kickback/fees from food vendors

...or secondary profits from rooms, restaurants, etc.

By my calculations, the total rake was 6%.
I'd be thrilled to play in any tournment where the rake was only 6% - that's less than half of what I'm used to.
You think this should be a not-for-profit event?

Caesars is running ads during wsop to support help for gambling addiction...Gotta give them a little credit

No, but fixed-rake events (vs a percentage rake) are much more equitable for players (regardless of game -- poker, backgammon, bridge, whatever) when the entry fees starting getting so large that 'standard' rake percentages generate numbers that are totally out of whack with actual expenses plus a reasonable profit.

It's not uncommon for high-roller backgammon events to have a minuscule rake (percentage-wise) compared to events with smaller entry fees, although the actual rake dollars generated by each is relatively similar.

Even at 6%, one could argue that it's not a very good deal for players if they aren't getting $600 worth of value out of the withheld amount.

That would seem to be enough to cover the purchase of a few more chips to adequately handle the needs of the actual field size, just sayin'.....

.... even at the current market prices for mint Paulson chips. :sneaky:
