WSOP Live Stream (3 Viewers)

I understand the build up, but the people they are trying to attract dont follow the WSOP close enough to warrant the build up. The people who follow it closely think its a bad idea to do the N9, the people who watch for entertainment or are the casual fan, will still watch.

Also, the live streamed final table isnt much build up when you can follow like 5 people on Twitter and see the bustouts and hands before they air on tv.

Bottomline IMO

Casual fans - will watch anyways, no matter how the final table is aired, if anything, the 2015 was grueling to watch, might lose interest from casual fans

Poker players/genuine fans - would watch a live stream for the final table anyways, even if the regular WSOP ESPN episodes aired afterwards anyways. They are doing themselves a disservice in the first place with only taping from when they hit the money, a lot of the drama, funny stuff, shenanigans, actors, celebs, sports stars are stuff that happen on the opening days of the tourney. Thats where a lot of the most memorable moments came from from the 2003-2007 boom.

I'm probably wrong on this but it use to be that they would air the ME on ESPN and would use the time to edit the relevant information leading up to the N9. I didn't see any broadcast before the N9 was there even an episode? If so it was buried way deep in my guide so I didn't see it.

Would also get rid of most of the cheering sections for bergs.

I guess that answers my question. But I'm sure the production efforts that go into it don't outweigh the payoff and ESPN spent too much money for MNF.

Turtlenecks and dickies banned too? Hats with brims? Agree that something should be done, but not exactly clear what that would entail.

I don't know exactly how turtlenecks should be handled. Neil B and Josh B weren't wearing the scarves to make a fashion statement or because they were cold; they did this to conceal their carotid artery. Max S wore a buttoned, collared shirt; I am fine with this. I think ski masks look ridiculous.

I like to argue that poker is a game of skill. One of these skills is the ability to analyze information off a player and determine what his/her actions mean. Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth and Antonio Esfandiari impress me as having these skills. Sometimes in their commentary, they will describe what they perceive a player is doing by facial expressions or mannerisms

I think there was an Alpha8 event televised recently, in which the host casino banned sunglasses at the final table (I could be wrong about this). It was nice to see unfiltered poker for once. Overall, I don't have a really solid answer at this point.

Yeah, I agree with sunglasses, scarves, hoodies, masks, goggles (lol phil laak), even hats. Didn't somebody on a televised event have a towel handy that they used to cover up their face? Ridiculous.

If a button-up collar shirt is okay, I suppose turtleneck shirts/sweaters should be acceptable, too.

If I wore a ski mask to Trihonda's MTTD, he'd put me in handcuffs and escort me to the county line. :)

We hired a new copy editor last spring. She had no previous gambling industry experience, but she's super smart and has been a huge asset to us over the past six months. The role she's in hasn't typically included a whole lot of room for writing original content, but we gave her an assignment because she shows so much promise: Watch every hour of ESPN's WSOP coverage and write a column about it.

Regardless of whether or not you watched the shows, I can't recommend this enough. It's a great fresh take on ESPN and the WSOP. Needless to say, we're going to have to find a way to get her some more writing assignments in the future.

Well she likes stealthmunk, so you know she's got a good head on her shoulders.

Posted elsewhere, but thought this was pertinent and hilarious......
