WSOP 2008 set ups?? (1 Viewer)

I wasn’t sure exactly where to put this thread, if it’s in the wrong location please move it.

So my question is, what’s the deal with the WSOP 2008 setups you can buy??
WSOP 2008 was almost 15 years ago, how on earth are they still selling sealed decks from this year?!? These set ups are available for $10, a good price, all over Vegas in random souvenir shops.
How is this possible? Are they legit? Did they accidentally produced tens of thousands more decks than they needed? Are they used cards and resealed into fresh decks for resale?
I’m very intrigued to find out if these are legit and if there’s a crazy story or something here? Anyone have any info?

I have a couple of those setups. Nothing shady, totally legit, just tons of overstock I guess.

The only downside to the 2008s as I recall is that they can warp/bow along the short edge.

Yes, Bicycle brand printed on Kem stock. USPS had recently acquired Kem (who was the official supplier to the WSOP). They still wanted to use Kem stock , but wanted to promote their classic brands.

Lots of us have the 2012 from the eBay guy, if you ask he will make a 14 set up package for under $40 and those cards are awesome

They are not new but like new. No Jokers and boxes are just taped up but they play very well!

You would have to ask, that guy is as friendly as they come. He usually responds pretty quick too!

It's quite normal....
Somebody has to vacate warehouse space so they tell the guy to clear it up... And he does
Used to know guy like that... He was managing casino cards stock in casino, when they closed he just cleared it up... I bought like 30 bridge jumbo setups from KEMs

Goes through is not the same as being produced

Plus I belive they using variety of decks

Odd that they’re all over Vegas and there’s not a single setup on eBay. I’m not saying it’s shady or anything, just odd.
