Don't hate me for this , I have been shuffling New Paulson's HSI's and now my 8V/s .

I'm getting the feeling that the 8V's are easier to do and feel very good.

Thoughts !!!

New Paulsons have very sharp edges, which makes them hard to shuffle. The 8V’s have a slight bevel, and stack, shuffle and handle quite nicely. However, just wait till those Paulsons get a little broken in!

Even those sharp edges are fun to shuffle. I have minty Paulsons here and they feel so good, just can’t imagine how they would feel when they’re broken in. I’m kinda missing out on the “soft” Paulson feel , they don’t feel soft at this moment. Does this happen when they break in ?

All new compression mold chips like Paulsons, CPC, TR King etc will have sharp edges and will be a bit tough to shuffle for a while. Give them a little time and they will improve dramatically.

I love brand new chips because they are beautiful, not because they shuffle beautifully.

Mint chips are always more exciting than used ones. But there is this concern when handling mint chips , and with used ones you just don’t care. Breaking in mint chips yourself is the best way to go IMO

I know about the difference, but just saying !

Do yourself a favor and buy a shuffle stack of some very worn Paulsons. They are by far the best to shuffle and are usually very cheap at $1 per chip or less.

Can casually shuffle 2 barrels together with Paulsons in super worn condition.

Unless you're running a big poker game every night you'll prob never be able to really break in the paulsons. You might be able to take a little bit of the sharpness off if you focus on a single shuffle stack for awhile. But they are made to withstand 24/7 action and abuse at a casino.
This is both good and bad. Good in that you really don't have to worry about putting your minty chips in play because they are gonna stay awesome for as long as you own them. Bad in that if you don't like the feel, you're kind of stuck with it!

I mentioned above but used Paulsons are IMO better than new/minty. They have a really nice soft feel in your hand and shuffle like a dream.

wait, you are saying you can shuffle 2 stacks of 20 chips each so a total of 40 chips? I can barely get my fingers around and shuffle a barrel (20 total chips) If you can do 40 at a time that would be something I really want to see. You gotta have hands bigger than Shack O'Neil..

I wonder if we have different definitions of “super worn condition.”
I’ve found the most worn Paulson chips - often called bike tires - are slippery and don’t handle well at all, and are more challenging to shuffle.
(Though I’m not shuffling champ. I don’t think I’ve ever shuffled more than a barrel. Maybe 22 chips.)

Not going to say 8V's are better than Paulsons, and I'm not a chip shuffler (nasty habit) but I will go as far to say the 8V MGK's are the best China Clay's ever produced. For the price they cannot be beat (especially when they could be had for .10c/chip.

The 8V's were just another project for me to give me something to do. I bought the chips came across the Labels and the rest is History.

These chips prob have the most expensive (Original Cost) Labels on them, compared to other China Clays.

Sure came out Super Nice...

Fellow Texan and lover of 8V chips here too! No knock on Paulson, but 8Vs are the cream of the China clay crop IMO. I went the opposite route as you - lower cost DIY labels from Avery, self printed on my home laser printer. Still turned out pretty good I think!
