So my best friend since 07 was having the poker game at his house he upgrades the setting and the table that I had originally found outside an old business. Now his brother found and nice oval one for $100. Now I am working on a table to get it ready for this summer. Any thoughts or suggestions would be helpful.

The speed cloth pictured is temporary. Thinking of doing a custom cloth in the future maybe.

I'm confused as to what is pictured. Is that the one you found in the trash that your buddy upgraded? Or is that yours that you are looking to upgrade?

If its the latter and it was me, I'd fill in center field and out a padded rail on. I would get zero use out of it as a bumper pool table or a round table, so I'd make it a full time poker table.

If it's the former, your buddy did a nice job at restoring it.

The one I purchased is above in op and I'm currently working on it at my place.

This is the one (below) that we found on the curb that was fixed since 2007.

So I would get rid of those useless shallow cup holders and "stack trays" and make it a flat surface. Doesn't have to be perfect because Volara will cover/hide most imperfections.

Then I'd add a 4" or 5" padded rail. Bob's your uncle.

Cut some plywood fillers for the recesses, screw them down and fill the cracks with Bondo.
Recover as per usual.
