The room is in a double-reinforced high-rise, and the floors can support about 60 lbs per square foot. The room the chips are in is about 16x18 sq ft, which means the room floor should be able to hold just over 17,000 pounds.

Should be ok :)

That's what the folks in that high-rise in Miami said. :cool

327K? Just imagine the flooded market in a year or two when Krish loses interest in chips and move on to another hobby...

:unsure::ROFL: :ROFLMAO:

Well, if you considered the entire collection (approx 327,000 chips), and assumed 10g each chip, then that translates to 7,209 lbs, which is 3.6 US tons.

Are you sure you should be using the area of the room in that calculation, or should it rather be the footprint of the cabinets?

I probably should be using the footprints of the cabinets, but I’m using the room because of the supporting vertical wall structures, with the assumption that maybe there’s some distributive force across the room. I’m not an engineer, so not sure.

It’s obviously more complex than simply 60lb/sq foot, but when you’re already close to 50% of that threshold when using the entire room in the calculation… I’d pause to consider.

You might improve matters with a floor plate which distributes the load of the cabinets over a larger area. Possibly, this question needs a building engineer with knowledge of the structure.

^^ this.

I'm conflicted between being a floor beloiw and either a) a lucky recpient of all those chips when they come crashing through the ceiling, or b) being dead as a result. Tough call.
Conflicted? Is it not your dream to be buried in a pile of chips when you pass? That's like dying on the battlefield for a soldier.

You guys actually panicked me a bit.

So I called the building management and they sent up a structural engineer and architectural consultant to take a look this morning.

Other than being mildly curious if I might be laundering casino money, they assured me my building was built to commercial standards, and I had the distributed load wrong; it’s about 150 lbs/sq ft, and a concentrated load of the kind I had was fine, in that room.

Phew.

327K, glad to know I don't have a problem

There's always jetons and plaques, for the (slightly more) sophisticated gentleman.

In looking through my inventory, and in the zeal of collecting, I’ve realized I’ve been collecting a lot of lower denoms (fracs, $1s, $5s and $20/$25s) which are great for my PCF games, and some of my smaller games ($1/$1, $2/$5, $5/$5 and maybe some $5/$10).

I’ve also focused a lot on leaded chips, which historically don’t have a lot of upper denoms especially for cash games.

Compared to other denoms, I’m woefully short (for my large games) on:

- Black (or dark), shaped inlay, leaded hundos with more complex spot patterns (need multiple racks, at least 3 of each kind, NOT Aztars or PCAs, or hundos with simple spot patterns, like Arubas.)
- $1000 leaded, shaped inlay THC chips (like the Empress $1ks - no fantasy chips like VLV or FLV)

So, I’m opening up my coffers of lower denoms for trade to help get myself some of that inventory filled (if it even exists.)

- NOT looking for just barrels, need racks.
- OK with leaded IHC v1 for $1ks
- excellent, sharp condition.
- Any reasonable request from my inventory is fair game, just PM me, and let’s see what we can work out.
