Until recently, I had a weekly home cash game. It morphed through a lot of changes over the years, but somehow kept going.

I'd say anyone who's hosted a game that has run consistently over a couple of years or more is a "guru" of their own domain. The trick is to modify/update your game to meet your players' needs (as those needs change over time), otherwise you'll lose players.

I host lots of cash games but almost no tournaments. As others have noted, we can't suggest who might offer useful advice until we know the question(s) being asked.
Lots of ways to skin a cat, and not all cats are created equal. What works well for one group doesn't necessarily work for another.
Most of the game hosts on this forum know what works best for their specific set of circumstances (and cats).

Co-host a 10 year running Thursday night NLHE tournament. 14-20 players, 10,000 starting stacks with a 5000 rebuy/addon if no rebuy. 15 minute level blinds for the first two hours, then 20 minute blinds to finish it out. Started with dice chips, morphed to better dice chips, now using CC Dunes.
About two years ago added a Monday night PLO tourney, single table max. Just now moving so turning it over to another player. Same starting stack as above, but 30 minute blinds. Winner take all.
