Hey all, Im a new member to this community and I'm wondering what denominations I should pick for a 500 pc set, I was looking at the casino royal set and I was thinking of getting the following

100x- .25c
100x- $1.00
100x- $5.00
100x- $25.00
50x- $100.00
25x- $500.00
25x- $1,000.00

Im wondering what more experienced members think of this break down of denominations and I am open to other suggestions for beginner sets, Thank you in advance!

Do you want a cash set or tournament set? Or a combo?
If cash, do you really need $1000 or $500? Or even 50 $100?
What’s your typical buy-in?
So many factors that will shape the answers you get here.

Doesn't seem like you'd have enough chips to do a single table cash game or tournament. Check out Christopher M on Youtube. He tells you what you need for a cash game or tournament.

Ya, hard to do recommendations when you did not even mention what stake what game are you looking for

Also that breakdown that you mention is definitely not in the top 99% recommended breakdown too

Based upon what I think you seem to be trying to do, i would probably choose the following 500:

80x 25c
180x $1
160 x $5
60x $25
20x$100

I would really try to stretch for 600 chips and get something like

120x 25c
180x $1
180x $5
80x $25
40x$100

If you are certain to be playing at .25 blinds (and never want to go to 1/2 or higher stakes), I would probably do something like this:

160x 25c
180 x $1
120x $5
40x $25

Welcome to the forums, we created this New Members Start Here thread just for you!

First you should pick a direction, do you want to have a cash set or a tourney set?

You should not use 1 set for both, don't share the 25 and the 100.

Rather than set a chip count that won't quite cover what you want to do, figure out how many people you want to be able to cover and the amount of bank you plan to have on the table.

I don't really spread tourneys, check the link and there are post links and tools in there.

For a cash set, since you have 25c denom, I'll assume you may want to have a 25c / 50c game. This covers my 25c/50c PLO game.

10 players 700 chips
125 x 25c
300 x $1
200 x $5
75 x $20
(bank $2831.25)

yea apologize I should have mentioned it would be mostly for tournament style play and occasional cash games 4-8 players with a low buy in

our usual buy in is $20-$30 and it is mostly tournament style but some guys have been wanting to do a cash game instead

Need to play t5 tournament if you want to be able to flex to cash with same chips, I would think.

80x 25c
130x $1
130 x $5
80x $25
80x$100

There’s really no reason you can’t do a tournament using quarters and dollars instead of t25s and t100s. I mean, I know it “isn’t done” but there’s no good reason not to do it (aside from chip security)

$0.25 x 100
$1.00 x 150
$5.00 x 150
$25.00 x 100

Gives you a bank for cash games of over $3k, which is plenty for these guys.

For tournaments,
12/12/7/6 stacks would make starting stacks of 200, which are 400 big blinds deep if you start at .25/.50

Ya and with 4-8 players I would really hope chip security isn’t an issue.

I suggest you can get a Micro stake chipset since you are doing a Low buy in

5c x 100
25c x 100
$1 x 100
$5 x 100
(You can either get an additional 100 at 25c or $1 depending on your workhorse chip if you want a set of 500)

Also you can play T5c T20 Starting stack with $20 buyin with

10/10/7/2 5c/25c/$1/$5
(This way you will have no issue with mixing Tourney with Cash as they had the same value)

You can always save up and get a Tourney set separately in the future

The same people who will play with no denominations on any chips will bitch about this because it’s “confusing”.

How much is a green chip worth again/again/again?

do you have any recommendations for sets that have such low demoninations? I haven't come across too many, especially sites that ship to canada. Really appreciate everyones input!
