A little history on this... I was looking for a T2000 or T3000 tournament set. I ended up buying Don Clay's 300 chip Aztar Indiana set. It was a beautiful looking set but I wanted to expand it a little just in case I wanted a bigger game someday. Let's be honest, you can never have too many chips!

I couldn't find any matching Indiana 25's so when I ran across 2 racks of Missouri 25's I snatched them up. I love the Missouri 25's 818 spots and minty goodness but my concerns start with mixing RHC and LCV chips together in a set. My other concern is on the quantity and whether I even need 200x $25's. I ended up expanding the 5's, 100's, 500's, and 1k's in my set so I really may not even need to have 2 racks of 25's. Thoughts on which chip matches and looks best in the set and how many I should have of it?

My current chip count so you can see if you think my 1 rack of Indiana's would cover any game or if I really need 2 racks to be safe.

200x $5 Indiana RHCs
100x $25 Indiana RHC's or 200x $25 Missouri LCV's
128x $100 Indiana RHC's
37x $500 Indiana RHC's
8x $1000 Indiana LCV's
40x snappers which I will use as bounty chips.

The most I can seat at my table is 8 and I can't see wanting to do more then a T3k as that would be 300 BB's. I'm thinking 100x $25's in whichever version would be more then adequate?

Let me know what you think! Thanks!

Oh and here's some pron so you can see the two different versions in the set.

First thoughts are Missouri looks better. I love the 818 spots BUT I don't think I could handle mixed molds. You also have a complete Indiana set so why screw it up with one Denom of Missouri? For me it's easy call but I do love that 818 spot.

^^^This.

I obviously love the Missouri $25 and 818 spots in general (as evident by my relabel project), but I wouldn't include it at the expense of mixing the molds.

Not a huge fan of mixed mold or inlay sizes. While I do like the green of the Missouri's just a little bit better, I think the Indiana's are an overall better fit for the set. As for how many, more is better than less, right?

If you decide to sell the Missouri, hit me up! May be interested in both racks! I also have a rack of Indiana I could include in trade. Or...I could buy the Indiana if you decide to go with the Missouri.

For me, I prefer the Missouri chip overall, but not in that set. I would stick with the Indiana, since all of the other chips in the set are Indiana. Just say no to mixed mold!

The Missouri are just prettier, I chose them in a very similar set that I am currently building.

I agree the Missouri definitely looks better but the mold mixing is what's kinda bugging me still.

I'm still up in the air. Thanks for all the input so far.

Don't mix them. Keep the Indiana's together. Gives the set consistency.

Use the Missouri's for another project. Unload a rack and keep the remainder for a mixed Cash set.

Just my 2 bits ...

Can't go wrong either way.

Indiana keeps the set cohesive.

Missouri is more pleasing (IMO) on the eyes.

Maybe oil the Indiana and they will look better?

The Indiana's have brass flakes in them so it makes the green look more dull imo. I've got to oil my second barrel of 500's that just came in so I'll throw some baby seal oil on the 25's too.

Don't mix the molds :)

I originally had mixed Aztar molds and hated it later

For starters, I would not mix THC and RHC chips in the same set, with very rare exception. Well, maybe almost never. Okay, I wouldn't do it, period.

Second, a couple of small points on accuracy: those Casino Aztar Missouri $25 chips are SCV, not LCV. And the Casino Aztar Indiana $1000 chips are oversize IHC (not LCV).

To address the quantities needed for a single-table T3000 set:

T3000 starting stacks:
10 x T5
10 x T25
7 x T100
4 x T500
------------
31 chips = T3000

Chip set (up to 10 players):
100 x T5
100 x T25
70 x T100
46 x T500 (includes 40x for starting stacks and 6x to color-up T5 and T25 chips)
------------
316 total chips

The T100 chips will rarely (if ever) get removed, so there will 116 total chips (or fewer) in play at tournament end. If you keep your T500 total at just 37, you can use the 8x T1000 chips for color-ups too.

Summary advice:
  • Use the Indiana $25 chips with the set.
  • Sell off the extra $5 and $100 Indiana chips.
  • Pick up a few more $500 chips.
  • Sell the Missouri chips (or better yet, start another set).

Thanks Dave! I was trying to figure out the breakdown of chips so this is very helpful.
