When would you have sniffed this out? (1 Viewer)

I wish I would play with guys that would fold A(little). If you play in a big union on that app 99% of the time you would be going against AK and get paid handsomely.
I don’t think it’s a bad preflop call knowing you fold without pairing the A and 8. Raiser could have a pocket pair or a suited KQ sort of hand. With these small stacks you need to gamble a little.
for god sakes they made a movie scene about this exact scenario in Rounders so chalk it up as really bad luck and move on.

Your strategy is interesting to say the least. You are ok calling a 4X raise then folding unless the flop has both an A and an 8. Not sure of the math here but am very sure you are not flopping both an A and an 8 very often!!

This is an easy preflop fold.

This isn't "Casino Royale."

Iirc it's like 20-1 against flopping 2 pair or better with an unpaired starting hand. (Obviously the exact hand matters when factoring in straights and flushes.)

So yeah, that seems to be a money suck plan unless the implied odds are huge or you feel you can play well enough post flop when you flop no pair or one pair.

Sorry, i didn't mean you immediately fold if you don't flop two pair. But as I stated the raiser could have any pocket pair or a KQ, KJ suited type of hand. So if you hit your A you need to represent it at the start and make them fold a KK or QQ but be wary that raiser could also have AK or AQ so if they strong play the A hitting the board you have to be willing to fold just hitting the Ace.

If your only going to play hands better than A8 good luck getting blinded out of the game was really my point.

What a train wreck. Fold pre. Bet the turn. As played raise the turn. Build the pot! To be honest I’m not fist pump shoving after getting my 1,5 pot bet raised on the river but there’s no way around it.
