When to oil chips? (1 Viewer)

seriously, the before and after pics in the thread above are great. definitely seems worth the time investment. and the Rounders chips look AWESOME!!!

New to all this, but I was wondering if people's hands get all oily after playing with the oiled chips??
Interestingly, the truth is (or a lot of us believe the truth is) that clay chips get naturally "oiled" just by being constantly handled as they're being played. So kinda sorta the opposite is true for unoiled chips.

I'm sure he meant "rest them on an absorbent material" like a fibre or paper towel, so any excess oil will be removed by capillary action.
here's a picture of how I normally lay my chips out after an application of mineral oil
