What's been your experience with a set from CPC? (2 Viewers)

For everyone/anyone who has purchased a custom set from CPC -- how do you like em? I recently got a sample set (rounders) and I love the feel. The 25c chip did have a 25c sticker on one side and a $25 on the other lol. But they looked pretty good overall. Worth the price? How they holding up?

Thanks!

absolutely love them, have 2 cash and 1 tourney customs from them, and a Chesterfield set on order. They look and feel great, and hold up fantastically. They aren’t cheap, so I’d make sure you get not just color samples, but mold samples so you can get what’s best for you. And make sure you get a good designer to do your inlay (@Johnny5 @p5woody @Toby are all great).

Yes pron please. Don't think I've seen your customs before.

Agree though that ASM were and CPC are a great company with excellent customer service.

My set. 14 years old.

To further answer the OP's questions, beyond offering pr0n or links to pr0n, I must say:
-CPC Customer service is superb. Cooperation with the firm's director, @David Spragg, has always been stellar with all members here.
-CPCs are said to be more durable than Paulsons (I have both, but to really compare I 'd have to be playing with both, daily, for years).
-At any rate they 're the only customisable casino-type clay poker chips in the world offered to the public today.
-Being so, they 're also the only rational, predictable price-wise, and stress-free choice of building a set (especially, but not exclusively, if you 're not North-America-based and can't afford a continuous "catch and release" of secondary market Paulsons).
-Offered in many different molds, each of which can tell a different song when shuffled.
-Off-the-shelf sets offered too (including by KeyWest).
:)

Wow - very nice! Love the colors

Thanks for the info! I will likely take my time and start designing something.
Sweet!

I'm a big fan. My best advice is to tweak and perfect your lineup as many times as you have the patience for. Thought mine was perfect, then ended up reordering a revised $100 months later anyway.View attachment 480790

Very very nice. Yes, I plan on taking some time and slowly putting it all together until I get what I like. I'm not in a rush (yet lol).

How have I not seen this dark green 25k? Dang.
I am absolutely OBSESSED with the colors on these 100s and the 25ks. Totally BA

Totally agree. Might I suggest spending about $1,000 on Paulson casino chips to hold you over until you have the perfect design for the CPCs.
Thankfully, I do have a set of CDI's I bought way back in maybe in the late 2000s or something like that. Can't remember exactly. I love those, but I can't expand the set (i have 500) and so I started looking for other options. This is where I landed (on this forum)... looks like I came to the absolute right place :)

Thanks for all the info gents, it's enlightening and I love seeing all your designs. Definitely inspiring!

They do show up in the classifieds from time to time. I sold a set of those myself a few months back.

I don't have customs, but my Stock set of Rounders chips is fabulous! They seem durable, as I've felted them a dozen times or so and they still look and feel as new.

They sound great. Feel even better. Obviously, with my set being stock, they aren't as flashy or gorgeous as customs, but from the perspective of functionality, these chips are amazing! For the price I paid, I got unmatched value.

Having owned CPC, I can't see how I won't be making a custom set someday. I just don't have any artistic vision or ability. Need alot more inspiration for label design and colors etc..

I don't own a CPC set, but some members here have sent me a few customs from their sets as a thank you for helping them get Poker Mavens running.

They're totally different from Paulsons and ceramics and China Clays. And that's ok... In fact, it's great! Their quality feels top-notch. and the fact that they're different from all other chips just makes them unique.

Combine this with the fact that you can customize literally almost any aspect of them from the artwork and spots down to the texture, makes it a win.

One thing to note though is that the last time I checked their website some of the shaped inlay options weren't available. So maybe it's worth waiting until they begin offering them again.

I own 4 ASM/CPC sets - one fully custom, one stock with some custom denoms, one from a group buy and a small custom head's up set. They're all awesome. IMHO the best part about getting a custom set developing an inlay theme and play around with the chip design tool. Take your time, enjoy the process, and get the set YOU want.

Everytime I see this I have so much enjoyment from how beautiful they are followed by immense sadness that I was supposed to be seeing them in person this weekend :( darn covid

I'll be on the lookout for them but I need mostly 500s and 1000s which are apparently sought/fought over and I doubt I'll be quickest to see them :)

Not custom, but still sexy as hell! lol I ordered a sample set of those and they do look/feel great. Entire set is purdy

Yeah the customization part is brilliant. I have a few thoughts on direction/theme but i'll keep that top secret for now lol.

They’re definitely worth it. I actually have the Le Paulson Noir Pineapple design. So...;)
But they’re working on my 1st custom set of 500 right now.

The biggest thing to consider beyond aesthetics of the different moulds, is the feel. If you’re going to spend $$ on a CPC set I’d urge you to get a mold sample from CPC. Figure out which one appeals to you the most. Then track down a shuffle stack of ten or twenty chips. Shuffle the shit out them. The biggest sin you can commit, IMO is to not play with them. They really do need “breaking in”. HHR’s and Amold straight out of the box are very “nubby”. With some handling and shuffling, though? They become as buttery-smooth as any Paulson.

If it's what you're looking for, it's pretty good I guess. I considered ordering a custom set and decided not to for these reasons:

- colors aren't great relative to paulson, especially the yellows. felt like out of 38 colors, half of them were similar dull shades of blue/red/brown
- all the popping colors are the dayglow colors which are lighter in weight, I think some weighed in at <8g?
- brass flakes in non-dayglo did not appeal to me
- edgespots aren't great IMO at lower levels and prices go up significantly for spot patterns i liked
- i shuffled my samples forever and for some reason I couldn't get them to shuffle as well as I liked
- read somewhere on the forum that inlays are more fragile (i.e. cant go through ultrasonic)
- you pretty much have to punt on resale value. maybe 50c on the dollar?

Obivously, I don't own a CPC set so take my opinion FWIW. But I don't think my opinions are any less valid for not owning a CPC set since the above reasons are what convinced me not to get them.
