What to put on TV while hosting (1 Viewer)

Music works in some (maybe even most) groups. The group I have coming this weekend ranges from 30yrs old to 60. Half of them love country and old school rock, while the other half can't stand it. Maybe there is a middle ground somewhere, but seems much easier to put on a movie or sports on low volume so I can stop messing with the remote.

Saturday ..... I got USFL on Fox and after that game the NFL Network is showing a game from last season. What's wrong with that?

I play music that I want to hear, if they like it, I turn it up, if they don't I turn it down. I put some old poker channel on that just shows holdem with the sound off. Its something to look at but holdem is so boring no one really watches it.

You could put the Indy 500 on from this past year, or find some Derby audio, also go crazy and put on mumble rap, its very similar to 'race' radio.

Another option is this Podcast about barns, (its 10 hours!) you can't get sad talking about barns! ( you play this one time no one will ever complain about anything else ever )

I'm not sure I've ever watched anything before that is simultaneously hilarious, sad, and has you on the edge of sleep. (the first time through, that is)

in this order:

1. Sports or sports analysis show, even if it’s a repeat.
2. Poker - hustler casino, PokerGO, etc.
3. Music at a low level. Just something to break up the silence.

I will say, when nothing is on and all u hear are chips being shuffled, you realize quickly how loud leaded Paulsons can be. My FLV set is noticeably much louder than all my other sets.

Most poker players lover gangster flicks. Casino, goodfellas, Scarface, godfather, etc. or put on some poker, high stakes poker, poker after dark, poker night in America. Any poker show where there’s a lot of banter, and trash talking, that’s always entertaining

I run 3 TVs and 1 Bose speaker thing.
Bose runs a playlist that I created
One tv has poker either PokerGO current events hustler live, or WSOP classics. Recommend 2003 to 2009. This is the stuff that got most of us hooked.
Other 2 TVs have whatever current sporting event, playoffs, olympics or whatever(if anyone has money bet on a game I try to play that one for sure)
After sporting events end then I throw on Rediculousness.

No tv ever.

If you can't find friends to agree on music, get new friends.

As someone prior said, conversation and cards.

I'm hosting a cash game in a couple of days and could use some suggestions on what to play on TV during the game.

Some background:

Every seat at my table can see the TV because of the way I positioned a mirror next to the table.

Music is not an option. I've tried in the past, there are just too many different tastes of music in my group. What one likes, another might cringe at.

Sports would be ideal, but there is no college football, college basketball, NBA, NFL, Olympics on right now. MLB is not my thing. I've played Rounders in the past, which worked well...but hoping for something different.

The game is not super serious, it's low stakes (50c big blind), lots of drinking and food involved. So having something lively on in the background works well for us.

Any ideas?
There's the summer league NBA.

The answer to the OPs question is an obvious one... Hootie and the Blowfish live in Concert!

Just see the thread about the KC straddle... everyone had an absolutely amazing time and don't know why... the true answer is because I convinced @Chawks45 to put on Hootie in the background.

Wanna host a successful poker game, have a hot dog roller, good seats,a nice table and Hootie playing. The rest really doesn't matter at all honestly, folks will crawl back for more (Hootie)! Lol

I've put in a lot of work to get more hands per hour in my tournaments. If I put on sports I would take a huge leap backwards.

I have a spotify list which I control, but others can come with requests. IME, adults have the ability to listen any music regardless of taste.

The big screen TV plays my blind timer. Other than that I just hav music playing in the background.

We usually don't watch anything, maybe have some classic rock or 80's as background music. The last couple of times I do remember having a TV on was James Bond or Clint Eastwood "marathons" on PlutoTV...
