Dear folks,

I’m very curious how y’all take security measures when hosting a cash game ? I understand that obviously using custom chips are the best way to go about it, but what if you don’t have a custom set yet, and play with chips that you know are accessible to your players if they want too. Even if using Paulson casino chips, they still could get they’re hands on them. Now I know, generally speaking you would have people over the floor who you trust in one way or another, but what if the stakes get too high that security measures must be taken seriously. In the end, you’re playing with money and you must protect you’re assets.

1.

Semi custom from @BR Pro Poker is good security at a price you can afford.

2.

The cash register tracks all cash transactions. It know exactly how much is on the table at all times.

3. The best security measure is knowing everyone at your game. I mean, let's be real here. These people are coming into my home.

Excellent !
And I agree with point 3, sometimes you’re friend wants to bring a other friend into your game which you don’t know, but you indirectly trust them because you trust you’re friend, it’s those people who you really should get knowing because sometimes people are sneaky and you also don’t want to make them feel watched at the same time.

Pretty much none for my normal "buddy level" game - 0.25/0.50. Just me keeping track of money in a money-box and counting out chips carefully.

However, I occasionally host a $2/5 game where there's 10k+ in the bank. Same routine, only I ask a couple guys to bring guns and I post a big paper on the front door that says "We have guns, if you try to rob the homegame you will get shot. Seriously." So far so good :)

I don’t know whether I should take this serious or I’m completely missing the sarcasm here. Judging by you’re location, I seriously don’t know

LOL!! Not uncommon in the U.S. While I do not advertise with a sign, I do play with a couple of FBI Hostage Rescue Team (HRT) guys who always carry (along with 3 or 4 other players). So physical security is never a concern.

With respect to friends bringing friends, my players know that their friends reflect on them, so they don't bring dirt bags. Just make it clear to them that they should not bring dirt bags to your game.

Keep track of all debts? check. It's right there....written on the back of the paper plate!

Only allow people I know it +1s of the people I know best. With the understanding that I can veto the same +1s in the future.

None of the players in my regular games are chippers, so even though I just use CC CPS chips, no one is going to acquire them easily without knowing where to look.

I keep tabs on buy ins and have a hidden lock box for the cash. Chips and cash are kept in a separate room that either me or my wife have eyes on at all times.

We don't really even need to do this much for our small game. But I'd prefer everyone to feel comfortable about how it's run.

Now there are times I break some of these rules, especially regarding location of the chips and the lock box, but it's only in circumstances where the stakes are low and I trust all the people there.

TBH, if your game is so big that you are worried that someone might knock it over, you probably shouldn't be playing at your house.

Well, it’s a €1/€2 NLHE. Last Saturday we had over 10K spread out on the table. As for chips, I use ceramics that can be bought online (yes I know not the smartest move)

However I’m fortunate enough to get in touch with Sun-Fly and getting my custom hybrid set with some cool security features as serial numbers and UV. I do trust my players, but last Saturday my good friend brought a friend of his to the game, with my acceptance of course. But it got me thinking; what if…
Luckily that problem will be solved soon when my custom chips are here. I store my chips in the vault always when hosting and not hosting, and I’m also thinking to hang up a security camera above the table if my players are comfortable with that, not only for security purpose but to avoid incidents between players while betting. I still have to discuss this if they agree to this, and it will be implemented.

Multiple locations. Multiple days/times. Random rotation of 10 different chip sets. Random rotation of over a dozen different plastic decks (different manufacturers / colors / sizes.) Limited player pool. And well, there isn't all that much money at the table, either.

Excellent, very good measures. Of course, in the future when my chips sets are expanded, I’ll rotate too. Not only as a security measure but it’s just fun to play with different chips on different games. Keeps it exciting and well, what I’m doing here if I only planned to have 1 set   :ROFLMAO:

I’m seeing amazing Paulson sets on this platform owned by you guys. It isn’t out of my budget, but it’s something that takes time to collect. I’m that OCD guy who likes mint chips and from an actual casino so I guess it will take some time to hunt down some nice Paulsons here. (Oh and cash of course LOL)

I ask players to submit to a modified Pat-down process similar to a TSA search except I don’t wear gloves and I get a little grabby. I’m less concerned about weapons and more concearned about someone wearing a wire or cheating device. I usually don’t ask anyone to squat and cough, but sometimes I do.

I’ve been to games where this is exactly how the ledger is kept. Sometimes a napkin, because it’s cheaper than a plate. Yeah… that kinda host

My chips cost more than the value that they are played for…

If they sneak chips onto the table, I profit, lol
Yup!
Security if for casinos. Which is where I would go if I wanted to play for stakes that might require security

G

Good point, then on the other hand, how do you stop them from not grabbing chips from you’re table and take them with them  :ROFLMAO:

only a couple of them are chippers and are great guys who are on this forum. The remainder don’t appreciate chips like we do. I haven’t had that issue and hope to not ever have that issue.

The UV is definitely cool but I'm not sure it contributes much to security. The differences between your custom set and any ringers someone might bring in need to be obvious to a casual glance. Your hybrids will certainly do that, but not because of the UV.

Still, like I said, it's cool and probably worth having just for that alone. Also, even if it's not visible, as long as you show it off to everyone then people will know that it's there and simply that knowledge will provide a small extra deterrent for anyone who might be thinking about trying to bring in a fake.

Correct, the Uv Isn’t going to do much but i found it a cool feature. Serial numbers the same thing, the biggest denom is the 43MM €1000 chip I will let sun fly make, and I’m only going to produce 50 of them for now. They will be stored safely but will get out when things get wild, obviously they will be recognized with a glance and when cashing out I will know exactly what’s out as far as larger denoms.

On a side note: I’m thinking of buying a cool wooden desk like in the casino’s and store chips there safely, I’m sure ikea has something like this at a great price.

What software are you running for your register? Looks neat.

So now you tell me the squat and cough is optional…….
