What poker cards you use? (1 Viewer)

Copag are good-ish but there just too many other good options out there and they are getting more and more expensive too

KEM on the other hand are much better cards for handling and shuffling but they are just too heavy in maintenance for my liking

My current Favourite (that are easily obtainable in market) are Desjgn Modiano Guild & Fournier

There are quite a few options for plastic cards in addition to Copag and Kem. In no particular order (and I may have missed some)
Desjgn
Fournier
Bicycle Prestige
Cartamundi
Guild
King
Angel
Modiano
Da Vinci
Dal Negro
Zero
NTP
Gemaco
Faded Spade

All of the above have their fans and detractors. It really boils down to what you value in a card (looks, feel, flexibility, etc).

The ones I love :
- Cartamundi Belgium (Poker Size, Jumbo index)
- Fournier (I have the Bridge/Jumbo and Poker/Jumbo)
- Piatnik (I have only one setup of Bridge/Jumbo index but love it)

The ones I like :
- Modiano (the Alpha are my favourite ones but also lower end "Cristallo")
- Copag (especially the ones made in Turnhout, Belgium)

The ones I can't wait to receive in my mailbox :
- Desjgn (bridge with the black jack index)

The ones I'll enjoy until they are worn but will never restock again :
- Kem

Hey thanks for the info everyone, I'll check these all out. Plan on ordering a few of your suggestions to see what I like!

Desjgn Classic Diamond Blackjack Index in bridge size is the literal nuts in terms of what you want from a deck of cards, plus they're a forum sponsor. You can't go wrong.

KEM are my favourite by far.

I have some Desjgn cards as well that I like.

Since I bought my Shuffletech I’ve used Copag a bunch. They’re fine, but nothing special whatsoever.

I’d like to try Faded Spade, but they’re not available over here and shipping from the US is prohibitively expensive.

The Copag you buy in the US are the ones made in Belgium or in Brazil ? Or maybe manufactured in US ?

I honestly have no idea. Are there discernible differences depending on production facility?

I've just checked. My Copag USA Poker/Jumbo "Chopper" with my Copag Made in Belgium Poker / Jumbo.

They are both very similar. Similar feel etc. Just seems that on the Copag USA deck, the first card tends to "slide" more easily than on the Belgian deck.

The Copag USA are made in Brazil (mentioned on the side of the deck's box).

But it needs to be noted that there are other Copag (newer Texas Hold'em) made in Belgium which are quite different than most common Copags.

Modiano platinum editions are made with acetate plastic and are at the top of the food chain IMO. I have been using these cards for years. Since Covid disruptions to the supply chain they have been hard to get though.

Copag are not acetate, and are more comparable to modiano’s traditional (and cheaper) decks.

I prefer marked cards.
However, there are others that I like too. I will make pics tomorrow.

Guild or Desjgn preferably

are all that hit my felt.

The addiction is real

Set-up on the left are my Jumbo index deck that I rotate for my poker game

Set-up on the right are mostly standard index deck for my non poker game plus some older jumbo index deck that I currently not using for my rotation

I’ve got 6 decks so far with more on the way.

Favourite feel would be KEM
Favourite cards to peel would be modiano platinum, index design is tad smaller than the taller KEM, plus they’re great cards as well.

Big fan of desjgn 4 Color deck.

I like the style and don’t mind the stiffness of faded spades.

Still on the fence about poker/bridge. I don’t mind either, poker does show off and feel better but bridge is easier to handle. Haven’t done any long sessions dealing or shuffling though.

I'm myself in the process of trimming what I pilled-up during 10+ years, often buying in bulk.

To be honest I only started to care about the cards few years ago in fact. Before I was not caring weither there were regular, jumbo, peek, 2 or 4 indexes given they were 100% plastic.

Now I know exactly what I like and then selling my unopened setups I'll probably never use.

I still have a few wish list left for my deck collection, I am now mostly only focusing on Jumbo / Club Poker Index as they been my preference after trying out so many decks

I don’t mind either Poker or bridge size as I really like both which is good as it give me more options for choices

At the moment, I got 4 more decks shipments on the way to me
- Bicycle Prestige Jumbo (I previously only had the standard index version)
- Copag 100 anniversary Jumbo
- Gameland Club Poker Index
- Slowplay 2nd Gen Jumbo (They look nice so I decided to order a set to try)

Just picked up my first set of Desjgn cards which were also my first set of 4 color cards. It's definitely going to take a little getting used to. However, they seem very nice and I look forward to getting them in play.

I've been using Kem cards but will be looking into some more cards from this thread to try out

My Slowplay Gen2 and Gameland (Egyptian Gods) Deck are here, below are some of my first impression of them

Slowplay Gen2
The Packing is even more impressive and elegant compare to Slowplay Gen1, they also seem to have change their material as they no longer have the strong PVC Smell. It's also way less Slipper too, the top card will not roll off when I put them down unlike the case with Gen 1

Each deck come with a Free Cut card and I like the simple and smoothing back design

They also adjust the Index font size, they are more toward BJ Index compared to the existing Jumbo Index

The pricing is really cheap for its quality, it cost me less than 65 yuan for the setup including shipping which is about 9.75 usd.

One main con will be the card is sniff / hard and may not be the liking to some people. If you can handle Faded Spade, you prob will not be bother by it thou

I will be adding adding this to my Deck rotation for sure

Gameland (Egyptian Gods)
I always like Artist poker card design but they are often not make in plastic. I instantly add them to my cart when I saw that they are 100% plastic.

Back Design - Consistent printing throughout the deck but the color seem be much dull compared to the indented Gold / Sliver as shown when compare to the Deck holder

Material - It a bit slippery and it had the typical PVC Smell when I just opened them, will need to air them out for a couple days

Art Design - I really like it, attached are some of the designs. Will prefer the font size of the number index to be slighter bigger as it a size smaller than regular Standard index

Price - It cost me around 45 yuan for the setup including shipping which is about 6.75 Usd.

Card quality-wise, It not the best but money-wise it cheap enough to just buy it for the Art

As I received my Desjgn Black Jack indexes today, I did a quick comparaison of index sizes :
