In these sets, what is your ideal base colour for a $0.25 frac?

  1. White $1, red $5, green $25, black $100
  2. Blue $1, red $5, green $25, black $100
  3. Blue $1, yellow $5, green $25, white $100
  4. Blue $1, yellow $5, black $20, white $100
  5. Blue $1, red $5, orange $20, black $100

  1. White $1, red $5, green $25, black $100 Yellow or Blue
  2. Blue $1, red $5, green $25, black $100 Yellow or Orange
  3. Blue $1, yellow $5, green $25, white $100 Pink or Orange
  4. Blue $1, yellow $5, black $20, white $100 Green or Pink
  5. Blue $1, red $5, orange $20, black $100 Green or Yellow
I will avoid using Pink and Red or Green and Brown in the same set as some colorblindness cant really see the difference and colorblindness run deep in my family blood, about 80% of my male relatives suffered from colour blindness

I dislike pink as a frac when there's any chance of a red $5 in play.

In a Vegas progression with a white $1, then blue or any darker neutral colour (chocolate brown, charcoal grey) would work.
If the $1 is blue, then white, yellow, or lighter neutral colour (butterscotch, gold, light grey) would work.
If you have a yellow $20 instead of a green $25, then feel free to use a green shade as a frac.

In a Cali progression, a red/orange, or green, or light neutral would work. I prefer a purple $25 to a black $20, because it uses less neutrals at the top of the range (since white is $100). If you must use a black $20, then any purple more in the fuchsia-lavender spectrum would also work as a frac, as long as it contrasts against the blue $1. Remove red/orange out of contention if the $5 is more of an arc yellow than yellow.

I don't think standard pink as a frac in a set with a red five is going to be a real issue, especially if there are different inserts on the two chips. I have a relabel set that starts with pink-blue-red and looks better with that lineup than it does with light purple, yellow, or peach there. The arguable GOAT Vegas hot-stamp set, Silver Stars, use a solid pink frac with a red fiver as well.

For the more Cali-based line-ups, I've always liked the classic cherry red or day green. For #3, I think a light purple shade could look great there as well.

Of course, if you have specific chips that you plan to use in a lineup, us seeing those would help a lot.

As long as white and brown are not in the line up I like to use these as base colours for fracs...

2. Yellow
3. Red
4. Red
5. Green
I like all these answers, because each time, you’re using a distinct color.

As nice as pink chips are, I resist them in sets with a red chip, because it’s kind of like a different shade of the same color.
In most cash games, you’re only using 3 chips most of the time - you may have a 4th or even 5th bign denom chip in the stacks, but you’re only putting 3 colors into the pot on a regular basis. I don’t ever want two of those three colors to be pink and red - they’re just too close. (Not for dirty stack issues; it’s just nice to see as much of a rainbow as you can.)

For my micro stakes craps table:
White or light dg colors for the 5c
Red for the 25c
This is so its easier for the transition to live casino play where $1s and $5's come into play.
For poker:
Blue or orange for the 25/50c chip.

1. Blue or peach
2. Grey
3. Pink
4. Pink
5. Grey

2/5 and 3/4 are fundamentally the same thing, so no reason to change colors.

Biased towards retro lavender, lavender, and pink. To help expand the color spectrum:

1. Lavender > yellow
2. Lavender > yellow
3. Retro lavender > lavender > pink > red
4. Retro lavender > lavender > pink > red
5. Lavender > yellow

Thanks everyone for the replies. I agree that pink is a beautifully vibrant colour, but also that it’s too close to red.

I’m leaning:
  1. BLUE White $1, red $5, green $25, black $100
  2. WHITE/GREY Blue $1, red $5, green $25, black $100
  3. PINK/RED/LAVENDER Blue $1, yellow $5, green $25, white $100
  4. PINK/RED/LAVENDER Blue $1, yellow $5, black $20, white $100
  5. WHITE/GREY Blue $1, red $5, orange $20, black $100

While grey is a European frac color, without spots it’s…. Meh.

I think Brown or Tan are the best choice for a quarter in all of these situations
Orange is a pretty standard for $0.50, but you might have to use something different in #5 case.

I can’t edit this, but I think I would take out lavender as it’s too close to blue (in the same way that pink is too close to red).

I think the colours I’m probably going to get will be #2, and now leaning yellow over white over grey. Does white have colour transfer or dirtiness issues?

Depends on the blue and spots.

DG Peacock vs Retro Lav & Lav. Colors are exactly right, here, but they’re easy to tell apart.

I guess that depends on a lot of factors - are you talking about Paulsons?
The worst color transfer issues I’ve personally seen have involved white RHC chips, coincidentally both with big brown spots. The Terribles $1 with the one big brown spot and one big lime spot - after you shuffled those a bit, they looked like somebody spilled coffee on them, that’s how the brown would transfer to the white. And same thing with Lady Luck release from a couple years back - that $1 had 312 spots of some darker brown. When you shuffled them, they just got dirty looking.

So yeah, some Paulson whites can definitely get filthed up with other colors, but both times I’ve seen it, it’s been it’s own brown.

For Nevada colors, pink or gray.
For California colors, orange or red.
I 've predicted this conversation, so I made sure to stay loyal, in deeds, to what I would be preaching, anyway :)
