What is your favorite CPC mold? (1 Viewer)

Thanks. Question regarding the $1. I know CPC charges extra 53 cents for white, or doesn’t charge extra if you are willing to accept bright white with impurities. What route did you go?

There is no extra charge for "white", or for bright white used as edge spots. As you stated, there is a hefty surcharge for using it as a base color (and I recommend it if you can afford it).

The website states there is, wasn't sure if members paid for bright white spots
"Bright White is inherently difficult to work with as it gets contaminated so easily. It therefore carries a premium of 53c a chip, regardless of chip style, for either body or spot color. Bright White edge spots with more noticeable (but still slight) impurities are available for no premium."

I've used bright white as an edge spot several times and have never had a problem with it (I don't pay the premium). If I used it as a base color I would pay the extra loot.

Curious about $20 chips vs. $25. I would guess the $20 would be handy in a 10/20 game, or some limit games, but I play mostly 1/2 or 2/5, so that is kind of outside my experience...
Seems most people recommend 20's for rebuys in small stakes, as most people will be buying in with $20 bills. Also, you can keep your cash and tourney sets separate (20's for cash, 25's for tourneys).

Most of my sets have 25's. My bourbons have 20's. Both work fine. Of course our buy ins are 100 bucks so it doesn't really matter imo.

DSQ FTW!

Nice set, can you post a proof please?

My favorites are some of the legacy molds; DiaSq/scrown/lcrown.

I also like the feel of the B-mold, E&C mold, HHR and FDL.

Didn’t care much for the H-mold but wouldn’t kick it out of bed.

Like the look of the CSQ but haven’t handled any.

The only one that I don’t like based purely on looks is the hourglass. We can add the Roman mold to that list if you want to talk about retired molds.

Haven’t tried any of the others.

What that means is, when using bright white as a base colour, you will be charged the 53c premium. When using it as an edge spot, CPC will assume you want the bright white with impurities and not charge you the 53c premium. You will only be charged the 53c premium for bright white edge spots without impurities when you ask for them. I know this from when I ordered my custom chips.

I like 20s in games below 1/2 and 25s for games 1/2 and higher. Get both!

Just got my first CPC chips today.

I have at least a shuffle stack of:
A-mold
Circle square
Jockey
E&C
Large crown
Jockey
43mm A-mold

My favorites initially are circle square and large crown.

Not crazy about E&C; the texture feels weird. The others are fine.

I very much like the look of the DISQ and the SQINCR. I was considering B-Diamond for a set of customs, but have passed on that idea after finding a nice set of CDI98s and the Montana chips. I totally understand the draw of the SCrown, and would have considered a custom set of those if I was ever going to replace my James Bond ceramics, but I doubt I will. I'm sentimental about them because I got them from Sal/OWPS (RIP).

Now that scrown is out I get to change my pref:

1) scrown
2) Elephant
3) fleur
4) A

If only scrown could do hotstamps....

If rating them on a combination of looks, feel, and sound, my personal preferences are:

Jockey, Diamond-Square, B-mold, Horsehead, A-mold, and Circle-Square, probably in that order. Probably not coincidental that all six have an outer concentric ring (ala THC).

I don't really care much for FDL, Scroll, H-mold, Elephant & Crown, Hourglass, Cards & Dice, or the plain no-mold. And none of those seven has an outer ring (ala RHC, fwiw).

Not to say that there aren't chips out there on some of those last seven molds that I really like...... just that most of 'em would be better if they had been made on one of the other six. :)
Where would you rate scrown and lcrown in this list?

Very good question. I've never been a big fan of the lcrown mold, but I understand the nostalgic appeal. I love TRK casino scrowns, but that's more a function of the TRK material/color combo than the actual mold itself.

Even so, I'll be ordering some CPC scrowns soon to supplant missing denominations in some of my TRK sets (mostly a variety of 25c, $500, and $1000 chips). I do like the CPC version, though -- it's a very clean design that works well with old-school type inlays.

If I may ask, why were you never a big fan of the lcrown mold? I recently ordered a lcrown set primarily for the nostalgic appeal, as you said. I have taken note of your previous comments were you compare your preferred CPC molds to Paulson THC molds due to the double concentric circle, etc. I used to play with Paulson Casino de istmus chips for several years, and I really liked those. So, based on how you rated the various CPC molds, I'm very interested in your perspective of the lcrown. Thanks!

I couldn't even begin to think of what my "favourite" mould would be. There is so many custom sets that I have seen created where the mould used is absolutely my favourite FOR THAT CHIP. For (almost) every mould that I dislike, I have seen a custom set that has completely changed my mind.
